Description

QUEEN’s Roger Taylor and Robert Plant. A phantom live album of the two on stage together has been decided to be released. This extremely rare show took place at the Milton Keynes performance on June 22, 1983. Speaking of 1983, the first solo full-scale world tour “PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS TOUR” was held, which started in August. This work is six weeks before that. Let’s organize the timeline around here. ・June 22: Milton Keynes performance [this work] ・July 11: “THE PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS” released ・August 3: World tour starts ・August: QUEEN “THE WORKS” production starts This is what happened in the summer of 1983. The Milton Keynes performance of this work was just before the release of “THE PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS”. From QUEEN’s perspective, it was between “HOT SPACE TOUR” and the production of “THE WORKS”. In terms of timing, it was a warm-up for the “PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS TOUR”, but this show was actually a live recording for the TV program “THE TUBE”. However, the recording did not go well and the broadcast was canceled. It became a phantom concert. This work is an audience album of such a phantom performance. Until now, very few recordings have been known to core enthusiasts, but this is a new master with a much better sound than that. The quality is a beautiful vintage audience. It is not the type to advertise “It’s like a sound board!”, but the clear sound is more than enough for the time. Considering the rarity, it would be appreciated even if it was a roaring or explosive sound, but even if this was a normal concert, it could be called a masterpiece. All the balances are beautifully separated, there is no sense of dango, and Plant’s singing voice reaches straight. Moreover, the tape freshness is strangely wonderful, and there is no twisting or disturbance in the glossy sound. Unfortunately, it is not a full show, and only the last two songs “Worse Than Detroit” and “Burning Down One Side” are analog transcriptions, but you can still enjoy a precious show for about an hour with the best quality available (By the way, this show was redone and played twice each with three songs, “Other Arms”, “In the Mood” and “Big Log”. The redone songs and “Fat Lip” are not included in this work, for a total of four takes). What is depicted in that quality is a precious collaboration. The band members are already solidified in the “PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS TOUR”, and Roger Taylor joins them. In the main part of the tour, Phil Collins was replaced by Richie Hayward in the North American leg, and this is Roger’s version. And the set is an excerpt version of the “PRINCIPLE OF MOMENTS TOUR” with the numbers heard at the Japanese performance. Among them, “Sea Of Love” is particularly rare. There are very few records of this song being performed before its success with THE HONEYDRIPPERS, so you can enjoy an arrangement that is a little different from the album. In any case, this is an extremely rare and luxurious collaboration. I don’t know why Roger decided to participate, but the collaboration actually happened. This album allows you to experience that miracle scene with great sound. Live at “The Tube” TV show, Milton Keynes, UK 22nd June 1983 (58:24) 1. Intro 2. Little Sister 3. Treat Her Right 4.
