Description
This is an audience recording of a performance featuring Plant as a guest at Fairport Convention’s annual Cropredy Festival on August 9, 1986. It’s a fantastic sound with a lot of realism and freshness. Of course, it has also been perfectly treated with noise removal, pitch adjustment, etc. to produce the ideal sound! This year’s Cropredy Festival was held for two days, the 8th and 9th, with a variety of artists participating on both days, including Kieran Halpin with Martin Allcock & Manus Lunny, Mike Elliott, The Richard Thompson Band on the 8th, and The Electric Bluebirds, The Jon Strong Band, The Sutherland Brothers, Brass Monkey, and Dick Gaughan on the 9th, and a number of distinguished guests, including Ian Matthews, Robert Plant, Cathy LeSurf, Richard Thompson, Clive Gregson, Christine Collister, Mike Silver, Jerry Donahue, Bill Zorn, Jon Benns, Johnny Coppin, and Gerry Conway, on the 9th. The recordings this time are of the takes featuring Plant, and although there are only three songs, A Mess Of Blues, Nineteen Years Old, and Mystery Train, which may seem a bit lacking, they are three very rich tracks that give a glimpse of Plant’s roots, and are full of highlights! Plant, who appeared after Honour And Praise, showed off his wonderful vocals in a relaxed mood from start to finish, and the exquisite ensemble that perfectly matched Plant’s original style with the traditional band sound is a must-listen for fans and non-fans alike!
