Description
Since the series of Mirrored Masters began to be released, he has not only recorded Led Zeppelin’s stages from 1975 to 1977, but also continued to record their live performances after their disbandment. That’s what I found out. Jimmy’s “L.A. FORUM 1988: MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES” and Plant’s “SAN DIEGO 1990: MIKE MILLARD MASTER CASSETTES” proved that. This time it’s Plant’s turn again, and the album includes a live performance at the Universal Amphitheater in LA from the “Non-stop Go” tour that took place after the release of the 1988 album “NOW AND ZEN”. “NOW AND ZEN” is the first time Plant has adopted the essence of ZEP, which he had stubbornly denied in his solo career, after meeting young musicians such as Phil Johnston. The elements such as inviting people to participate were successful, and it became a huge hit. Following the album’s huge success, Plant spent 1988 touring. It was a big hit, reaching number 6 on the American charts, and has been touring all over the country. Naturally, they toured large venues, mainly arenas, but towards the end of the tour, they made an exception for gigs at smaller venues like the Universal Amphitheater. It was on the second day at the same venue that Millard captured it. Not only was the album a hit, but Plant’s bold introduction to ZEP classics on his “Non-stop Go” tour, which he had never featured before, was a big hit, and several items have been released on LP since then. did. If so, it is attractive enough that a high-quality audience recording of this tour has now been discovered, but if it is also a mirrored recording, the high quality is guaranteed. In fact, the sound quality is excellent, and this time too, the “miracle is by default” quality that can only be achieved with Mirrored explodes. The sound pressure was so powerful that the performance seemed to be approaching, and the fact that it was a medium-sized venue like Universal Amphitheater probably helped as well. Even so, the “Non-stop Go” tour that I listen to again in 2021 is full of the classic Eighties sound and is very tasty. It’s really interesting that the set list includes the synth sound “NOW AND ZEN” number led by Phil Johnston and old ZEP classics. It is unique because the arrangement starts with “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” being led by “In The Light”, but the excitement of the venue is already at the stage where “In The Light” has started. It’s no wonder that people are so excited to see Plant singing the ZEP number in LA for the first time since their 1977 tour. It is natural that it reaches its peak in “Going To California” in a place called LA. The song is accompanied by an electric acoustic guitar with full chorus effects and Johnston’s synth, giving it a heartwarming Eighties feel.Unlike the ZEP live performances of yesteryear, “Trampled Under Foot” and “Communication Breakdown” are played according to the length of the album version. It makes me smile again. Perhaps Plant himself was nostalgic for the old days when he sang “Trampled Under Foot,” and he shouted “Push!” repeatedly, and in the end, he had the audience screaming as well. However, even at the end of the live performance, the live performance becomes very lively with songs from “NOW AND ZEN” such as “Heaven Knows” and “Tall Cool One”, which is a big hit at the time and also conveys Plant’s sense of being an active artist. Millard recorded the nostalgic “Non-stop Go” tour in LA in the best sound quality, where his feelings towards ZEP were completely blown away and it is no exaggeration to say that it was the most brilliant period of his 80’s solo career.
