Sorry for the wait! Here is the best in-ear monitor matrix sound source from the final day of Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band’s Tokyo Dome City Hall concert! What a blessed time we are in, with both Beatles members coming to Japan and holding concerts in just six months. Last year’s Paul McCartney visit to Japan was dominated by exceptional recording items by the master of in-ear monitors, and it is still fresh in our memory that “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 2018: ORIGINAL IN-EAR MONITOR RECORDING” was elevated to a rare masterpiece. In that respect, Ringo’s performance in Japan this time is already the best title in the 2019 audience album? The highly-acclaimed “TOKYO DOME CITY HALL 2019 1ST NIGHT” surprised enthusiasts around the world, but of course the master of in-ear monitors is not silent. While the previous title recorded the first day at Tokyo Dome City Hall in the highest quality, the master of in-ear monitors recorded on the third day at the same venue. The incredible recording quality has already been proven by the sound sources of Paul’s Japan tour last year and the UK tour in December, but as expected of the master, he has once again provided us with a wonderful live album. The incredible real stereo sound has evolved even further since Paul’s time, and the clarity and stereo image are so perfect that you will be left speechless when listening to it not only on speakers but also on headphones, making it seem as if you are listening to an ordinary live album. The back chorus that unfolds in each song is separated into stereo for each member, and the harmony work that pops out from the left and right is so vivid that you can enjoy it. As expected of a band with a high index of skilled musicians, the vocals of each member are outstanding and the chorus harmony is really well-organized. It is so clear that you will be left speechless when you hear it in stereo. As for the performance, you can really feel the unity of the band in each song when you listen to this sound source. After all, the All Stars this time had more instrumental numbers with the addition of Hamish Stewart and playing songs from the Average White Band era. In addition, there was also a Santana number by Gregg Rolie, which also had a clear stereo sound. In that respect, the audience’s “TOKYO DOME CITY HALL 2019 1ST NIGHT” was also quite good, but the clarity of the in-ear monitor sound source was just too exceptional. In addition, in AWB’s “Pick Up the Pieces,” Steve Lukather plays the bass, a change of instruments that was only possible with this band, but the fact that you can clearly hear the bass he plays is also a testament to the in-ear monitor sound source. It goes without saying, but he’s really good at playing the bass. You can listen carefully to Lukather’s bass, which is based on the funkiness that is essential to AWB numbers. And yet, the balance of the performance is not saturated, making it even more enjoyable to have a well-balanced stereo sound. On the other hand, speaking of Ringo’s singing voice, in recent years, due to the reality of his age of 78, there has been a tendency for his voice to sound a bit shaky depending on the performance, and there was a possibility that the in-ear monitor sound source would reproduce this too clearly. However, Ringo was in top form from the opening on this day. Ringo’s cheerful state was also captured, and the interaction with the audience that can be heard everywhere is really fun. This is a unique sight of Ringo & All Stars, who always use hall-class venues, but it was surprising that the homely realism unique to the hall was firmly conveyed even when listening to this in-ear monitor sound source. And it is the work of the master of in-ear monitors that catches not only the actual stage but also the sound check that took place before it. There is a little noise in the beginning, but it quickly secures stable clarity and documents the precious sound check with a wonderful stereo sound. Unlike Paul, who had a complete backing band, Ringo & All Stars is a collection of star players with proven track records. The valuable thing about this recording is that it tells us that it is Lukather who is leading the band. The first performance is almost an improvisational number in which Ringo repeats the word “Rising Sun”, but it is clearly a word that came out with Japan in mind. It is also interesting to see each person singing this in turn. As a whole, the regular repertoire and blues were played lightly, as if it were a sound check, but it was really interesting to see the band all join in when Lukather started playing Jimi Hendrix’s “I Don’t Live Today” after finishing “Africa”. After that, they started “Purple Haze”, and the performance was so heated that it seemed like they could play it in full chorus. Furthermore, Lukather showed off his Jimi Hendrix freakishness by playing phrases from “Manic Depression” and “Voodoo Chile”, but it was amusing to see Ringo correct the course and practice “Boys” because he had gone too far off the sound check. Still, it’s really fun to hear Lukather, who is still in love with Jimi Hendrix, start playing “Castles Made Of Sand” as if he’s struggling, and you can enjoy this precious scene that you would not normally be able to see with the same superb quality as the actual performance. It’s been a long time since the master of in-ear monitors has done it! Please enjoy the ultimate in-ear monitor matrix sound source! ★It is recorded with a sound that is almost like an official live performance.
