Description
Complete recording of Return to Forever’s September 2, 1973 Lenox performance (immediately after Lenny White joined) with a stereo soundboard! (With this four-person lineup, the live “Live Space Circus” in March of the following year was released, although it is not complete) You can fully enjoy the finest ensemble with the finest sound quality from beginning to end. In the first half of 1973, the band consisted of Steve Gadd on drums (Spain’s sharp playing was incredible), Bill Connors on guitar, and Mingo Ruiz on percussion (no studio album left, only 3 songs). It was the soundboard sound source recorded at the Jazz Workshop in May, the official best “Return To The 7th Galaxy”). This item is a great way to experience the new RTF, which changed from a 5-member lineup to a 4-member lineup just before the October release of “Hymn Of The 7th Galaxy” (member change → recording from June to September). It’s precious. The set list was very attractive for this period, with 5 of the 6 songs from the album being new songs except for Spain and Children’s Song.Of course, the ensemble was also outstanding, with Lenny’s outstanding performance. Hi-hat work (completely different approach from Iart Moreira), Space Circus where you can enjoy Rose’s exquisite interplay with various tension chords, perfect unison in the Latin part, vivid rhythm changes (snare Captain Senor Mouse, which hits a plateau and has an unusual climax in the second half), Chick Corea, which develops in 8/6 time, and Bill Connors’ amazing unison, The Game Maker, are truly full of things to listen to! ! You won’t be able to experience such a technical performance with such high tension from beginning to end anywhere else. The definitive edition of the 2nd season Return to Forever, which is about to enter the golden age of fusion, is now available! Live at Lenox Music Inn, Lenox, MA.
