Description
On May 17, 1974, New York’s Academy of Music performance, which also served as a promotion for “Turn Of The Cards,” was recorded in full for 1 hour and 35 minutes with a stereo soundboard recording of the finest sound quality. This performance is familiar to fans as a broadcast sound source, and there is a single-disc version created from an air check sound source, but this version was produced from a pre-FM master stored at a radio station that had been in circulation in recent years, and it has been recorded longer than the previous version, and the difference in sound quality is clear. In the previous version, the radio DJ’s voice was overlapped during the song, but this take has no such problems. Surprisingly, it is completely recorded from the opening SE, and the pitch is also recorded accurately for the first time. The only drawback is that a small analog noise called “Zee” can be heard from the right channel after the end of each of Black Flame, Carpet Of The Sun, Cold Is Being, and Things I Don’t Understand (MC part), but it disappears when the song starts. Anyway, the natural and master-like sound quality and texture are overwhelmingly wonderful, so all fans will be moved by this wonderful excavation sound source. Five songs from “Turn Of The Cards” are played. In the second half of the show, Ashes Are Burning, Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash, who also participated in the recording of the original take of the song, appears with promoter Howard Stein and plays a wonderful electric solo for a long time. The dramatic performance that follows, which is integrated with the orchestra at Mother Russia, is a masterpiece, and you can enjoy a truly moving performance. The encore is the early Prologue. From every perspective, it is the best live document that can be said to be completely different. A great live masterpiece that not only Renaissance fans but all progressive fans should listen to.
