Description
RATT in 1984, who became the flagship of LA metal at once with the album “OUT OF THE CELLAR”. A new excavation master who allows you to experience the shocking debut era in a super real way is here. This work is recorded in “Long Beach performance on April 3, 1984”. It is a powerful audience recording. Speaking of their debut era, their legendary first visit to Japan is also a memorable place, but this work dates back to a much earlier period. As always, let’s start by looking at the overview of their activities at that time and exploring the position of this work. 1984 January 25th – March 18th: North America #1a (4 shows) {OUT OF THE CELLAR released on March 27th} March 31st – November 10th: North America #1b (161 shows) ←★here★ December 26th – 31st: North America #2 (4 shows) 1985 January 4th: Honolulu show March 20th – 27th: Japan (6 shows) ←※TOKYO 1985 1ST NIGHT {INVASION OF YOUR PRIVACY released on June 13th} June 18th – August 13th: North America #3a (42 shows) August 17th “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1985” August 20th – December 31st: North America #3b (91 shows) ←※DETROIT INVASION 1985 This is RATT in 1984/1985. The Long Beach performance in this work was the fourth performance of “North America #1b”, which was just after the release of “OUT OF THE CELLAR”. A little note here. In fact, the date information was revised with the appearance of this work. Until now, the Long Beach performance was considered to be two days, “April 4th + 5th”, but it was actually “April 3rd + 4th”. This recording was also initially thought to be “April 4th”, but it was actually “April 3rd” (confusingly, there is also a “April 5th” recording that has been said to be “April 4th”). Anyway, the book that vacuum-packed such a scene is a super-realistic scorching sound. When written like this, you might imagine a recording buried in cheers, but that is not the case. The performance sound itself is scorching hot. The tone and feel are perfect for the audience, but there is “pressure” at the core, and it has a fierceness that hits you. The other day I introduced the masterpiece “MOUNTAIN AIRE FESTIVAL 1984 (Shades 2155)” from a recent period, but this work is closer to the Japanese performance “TOKYO 1985 3RD NIGHT (Shades 1413)”. It also seems to have a balance that emphasizes the clarity of the high notes. Of course, the sound is filled with heat because not only the sound but also the live performance itself is hot. This set is similar but not the same as “MOUNTAIN AIRE FESTIVAL 1984” from “North America #1b” as this work, so let’s compare them here. Flames of Desire (7 songs) In Your Direction/Wanted Man/Lack Of Communication/I’m Insane/The Morning After/You’re In Trouble/Round And Round Others (5 songs) Debut EP: U Got It/Tell the World (★)/Sweet Cheater (★)/You Think You’re Tough Cover: I Want To Take You Higher *Note: ★ marks are songs that were not on “MOUNTAIN AIRE FESTIVAL 1984”. …And so on. Instead of “Back For More” that was on “MOUNTAIN AIRE FESTIVAL 1984” (?), “Tell the World” and “Sweet Cheater” are performed, and this work has a larger number of songs. And on this day, you can also listen to the precious “I Want To Take You Higher”. It is a cover of SLY & THE FAMILY STONE that was only performed in 1984, and it is an extremely rare song that can be counted on one hand. In fact, I don’t know if it’s okay to call the call-and-response arrangement on an aggressive beat a cover, but the scene where it gets exciting and then snowballs into “Sweet Cheater” is the highlight of this work. Following the masterpiece “MOUNTAIN AIRE FESTIVAL 1984”, this is a new excavation album that delves deeper into the debut era. A scorching audience recording of the “Long Beach performance on April 3, 1984”. The tone and feel are perfect for the audience, but there is a “pressure” at the core, and it has a fierceness that makes it seem like a slamming. The show, which is filled with only early songs, is particularly rich, and you can experience the rare scene of SLY & THE FAMILY STONE’s cover “I Want To Take You Higher”, which was only performed in 1984, 100% live.
