Parallel Realities is a band made up of Jack DeJohnette, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Dave Holland, collectively known as the “Big Four”. This is a two-disc set of a live performance at the Beacon Theater in New York on June 30, 1990, with the highest quality sound preserved from the broadcast recording. Initially, the band started out as a project by Jack DeJohnette and Pat Metheny, but it is well known that they showed off their true potential as a live band during their Euro tour in 1990 and stole the show. There is no need to explain each song here, but the funky groove of Hancock’s “CANTALOUPE ISLAND”, the sixth track on disc 1, is as you would expect!
