Description
From the fall 1982 European tour that Joe Lynn Turner-era RAINBOW conducted after releasing “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES,” this masterpiece from the analog era includes an audience recording of the November 6th performance in Stockholm, Sweden, with the highest sound quality. BRAINSTORM” has been completely remastered and now available digitally! A special release has been decided for the enjoyment of many RAINBOW fans! The live sound sources from the “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES” tour are now available on record from shows in various places, but until about 15 years ago, the variety of items was limited, and the live sound sources other than the performances in Japan was not widely available (this is probably due to the existence of official live footage). Among them, the one that was particularly poor was the European tour that took place from the end of October to the beginning of December after the performance in Japan in October 1982. However, on this 1982 European tour, there was one item that was considered a classic in the analog era. That is “BRAINSTORM” which includes the performance in Stockholm, Sweden on November 6th. Although the jacket design of this item was far from the image of RAINBOW, the recording condition was very good, and it is still a talked about item among enthusiasts. However, this sound source is rarely seen since it was made into a CD as a collector’s item, and although it may have been partially recorded as a bonus for other live performances, it can be said that there are no items that contain the entire live performance on record. It was. This time, this “treasure” item has been digitized directly from an LP source in good condition. It has been completely remastered to make it even easier to listen to, and has been completely recorded on two discs! The recording started with a Swedish announcement prior to the live performance. Following the announcement, the familiar opening BGM “The Land Of Hope And Glory” will play. These pre-performance recordings are recorded with high clarity and excellent balance, and listeners will be excited with anticipation. Without disappointing their expectations, from the beginning with “Over The Rainbow” and “Spotlight Kid”, Richie’s guitar and Bobby Rondinelli’s drums jumped out with a very active sound, suddenly knocking out the listener! In particular, Richie’s guitar has a rich direct feel, and it even feels like a line sound source (you can also hear the guitar solos of each song perfectly). Joe’s vocals are also very clear, and if you’re a fan, you’ll be amazed at how much you listen to them and say, “This is truly a prestigious recording of a masterpiece.” The combination of the groovy “Miss Mistreated”, the melodious “I Surrender”, and the active “Can’t Happen Here” is the classic Joe era RAINBOW. Furthermore, Richie’s play and Joe’s earnest singing featured in “Tearin’ Out My Heart” are a big listening point only for this year. Furthermore, the feast of PURPLE numbers and RAINBOW’s representative songs, such as “All Night Long” which introduced “Lazy” and the beginning of “Stone Cold” with the phrase “Child In Time” in the keyboard solo, is a point that is typical of this time. Both are filled with famous scenes that you can’t miss. When entering disc 2, the sound further improves, and in “Difficult To Cure” you can also hear Roger Griever’s bass very clearly. The scene in the middle where Roger’s bass and David Rosenthal’s keyboard intertwine is a must-listen. The momentum of “Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll” that flows from Bobby’s drum solo is wonderful, and Joe’s lively performance is also irresistible (“Hey Joe” is also featured in the middle of the song). For the encore, “Since You Been Gone” and “Smoke On The Water” are repeated, greatly enlivening the climax of the live performance. At the end, Richie’s guitar crash pops out with great force, and the reprise of “Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll” closes the live with a great finale! This work, which is one of the best recordings not only of the European tour but also of the audience recording of the ’82 tour, is a must-listen if you are a RAINBOW fan.
