Description

The highest sound quality title in the history of Rainbow’s Japan performance is now available! ! In 1984, from Rainbow’s last Japan tour in the 1980s accompanying “BENT OUT OF SHAPE,” the March 11th Osaka Castle Hall performance was completely recorded with an ultra-high-quality audience recording. Discs 1 & 2 include master quality versions of the best takes that were included in the previously released “Fire Dance”. The difference in sound quality from the previously released version is obvious, and the ultra-clear sound image, which is different from simple equalization processing and seems to have been thickened and scaled up as a whole, is wonderful, and the show has a sound board level sound image that can be said to be the ultimate in audience recording. Contains the entire story. The noises in some places that were previously released are also not on the main board. Furthermore, it is the longest version that includes the uncut 40 seconds of cheers from the end of the main set’s final song Death Alley Driver to the encore Fire Dance, which was cut in the previous release, and is exactly the perfect content. Discs 3 & 4 contain noteworthy sound sources that directly use the master cassette of the recorder, which is a different master from the take of discs 1 & 2. This is also recorded with amazingly high quality sound, and like the sound source of Discs 1 & 2, it will leave enthusiasts stunned. The sound image recorded with a thick and fresh sound is amazing, and there is a part where the sound is distant from 0:26-0:35 of Fool For The Night, probably because the direction of the microphone has changed, but other than that it is uncut. It is recorded with perfect sound image. It is recorded for more than 30 seconds after the end of the tape than the disc 1 & 2 take, so you can listen to the end of the performance announcement for a longer time. Both sound sources guarantee the highest level of content that will surprise enthusiasts. At the 1984 Osaka performance, where you can enjoy a wonderful performance where you can listen to everything, you can listen to the only performance of Difficult To Cure without an orchestra in the middle of the Japan tour. Also, on this day, the standard Miss Mistreated that follows Spotlight Kid is placed before Difficult To Cure, and instead, Fool For The Night, which was played before Difficult To Cure in Tokyo, is played as the second song. Normally, the second song at Rainbow’s live performances is relatively mid-tempo, so the composition of the first four consecutive up-tempo numbers is both fresh and powerful. Can’t Happen Here on this day when the drive took a strange turn can be said to be a masterpiece among masterpieces. The 10-minute Catch The Rainbow, which starts after a while, is a long solo bursting with Richie’s soul. Combined with the wonderful drumming of Chuck in the background, you can enjoy the best play. Richie’s original solo, which is based on the intro of “Ninth” that can be heard at the beginning of Difficult To Cure, is completely different from the Tokyo performance and has become one of the highlights. David uses plenty of string synths with an orchestral arrangement in mind, giving you a wonderful performance. The play that mixes Ritchie’s classical technique and spontaneous wildness in this song is a great listen. You can listen to Richie’s true performance in Richie’s 5-minute solo with Chuck’s drum in the background after the performance. The drum solo is also impressive. Power that makes you feel a strong groove, Blues of this day where the organic performance of the whole band is wonderful, Stranded which is close to 9 minutes where everyone can listen to performances full of advanced musicianship, and the excitement from the middle to the end is the best. It’s high tide. It’s been great so far, but there are pitfalls when it comes to live shows. During Richie’s Death Alley Driver solo, his fingers couldn’t turn during the scale part, and perhaps he was upset, and the solo in the middle of the song became melodious. I’ll put it away. During the audience’s “Rainbow Call,” you can hear Richie checking the fingering for Fire Dance. The synth SE comes in, but there’s a pause before the drums come in, probably because Richie’s final signal hasn’t come out yet. Fire Dance has a sharp riff and a cool performance. The last texture is also perfect. All Night Long is a short arrangement with an unusual ending that allows you to listen to a lively performance. Since You Been Gone is played with a slightly lighter guitar tone. Smoke On The Water is a familiar arrangement in which the first half is mellow. It was a moving set, with the chorus echoing in the venue and Over The Rainbow playing there. Both sound sources include announcements after the performance. After this, Richie will begin to move in earnest towards the reunion of Deep Purple, but I am once again surprised at how excellent the band was at the end of Rainbow.
