Description
This is a complete recording of the super rare 2-disc bootleg LP “CATCH THE RAINBOW” recorded in Osaka in 1976, which was pressed in very small numbers in 1977 (some say 100 copies) and is rarely seen even in the collector’s market. This is a direct disc recording of a record in almost mint condition that was kept by a maniac among maniacs. Before this project, this LP had never been made into a CD, and it was even missed in the “Rainbow Fanclan Collection”, so it is an extremely valuable record that most customers had never heard in CD format before. You might think, “If the record is rare, it’s just valuable as a record, but the sound is not that great,” but that is a big misunderstanding. The entire record is recorded with a soundboard-class audience recording. The structure is typical of bootlegs from the 1970s, but it combines two performances (in this case the Osaka performances on December 5th and 9th) to create a unique content, but the sound sources of these two performances are different from any of the previously released CDs, and the sound quality is very good. The A-side of the record, from Over The Rainbow to Sixteenth Century Greensleeves, is from December 5th, and the B-side, from Catch The Rainbow to Man On The Silver Mountain, is from December 9th. The C-side of the record is from Stargazer on December 9th to the introduction of the drum solo in Still I’m Sad, and the D-side is from just before the start of the drum solo to Still I’m Sad (reprise). The performance on the 9th ended here without an encore, but the cheers after the show (at 6:04 on the track) were connected to the encore cheers from the 5th, Do You Close Your Eyes, and Over The Rainbow, creating a pseudo full track version. When the record was made 40 years ago, the manufacturer should have had tapes that recorded the full performances on December 5th and 9th, but where did they go? I’m not exaggerating, but the sound quality is really good, so I think fans will be very surprised. The sound source on the 5th was Bondage’s “Straight To The Sky”, Rising Arrow’s “Hail To The King”, and the sound source on the 9th was Rising Arrow’s “More Heavy Struck” and “Shadow Of The Wizard”, but the masters are different from all of them. Moreover, the sound quality is recorded with an amazing sound that exceeds these previous releases, and since it is a record, there is no tape deterioration, so a pretty ridiculous sound will jump out of the speakers. All we did was correct the slightly high pitch (about 10 to 15% of a semitone), and we didn’t tamper with the sound at all. It’s amazing that it’s so amazing. In particular, the sound source on the 9th is recorded with a super sound that completely surpasses the highly acclaimed “Shadow Of The Wizard”. The amazing composition of the 9th → 5th → 9th seems trivial in front of this miraculous sound quality.
