Description
What is contained in this work is “Hempstead performance on November 30, 1979”. This is the soundboard album “ROGER’S BIRTHDAY PARTY” which is also famous as Roger Glover’s birthday show. I just wrote “same time as the DVD,” but this doesn’t mean it was the same year or the same tour. In order to explain this, let’s take a look back at our progress in 1979. [“DOWN TO EARTH” released on July 28th]・September 18th – October 12th (18 performances) – Approximately 3 weeks off – November 6th – 27th (12 performances)・November 30th: Hemp Stead performance ←★This work★・December 1st: Passaic performance ←DVD・December 2nd-13th (10 performances) This is RAINBOW in 1979. This is an expanded version of a part of the schedule explained in the main story. As you can see, the Hempstead performance of this work is the day before the Passaic performance of the DVD. It is a professional record set that was left for two consecutive days. This show is a classic among the classics that has produced many previous shows. There are several versions under the name “ROGER’S BIRTHDAY PARTY,” which is also the title of this work, and it is now known as part of a 3-disc set in general circulation. However, the contents are similar and different. There are differences in sound quality and editing, and it is not possible to say that any one is good (especially the 3-disc set that is generally distributed is terrible, the recording time is short, the gaps between songs are uneven, and the sound quality is also inferior). , I’m sure there are many people who are feeling weak.) “So, where can you listen to the classics in the best quality?”…This work answers that question. Of course, even with this work, it cannot be called “official grade”. However, there is no doubt that he is the best master. The master of “ROGER’S BIRTHDAY PARTY DEFINITIVE VERSION”, which was once famous as a definitive edition, is used directly and has been further refined with careful mastering. If the recording time is the longest, starting from the end of “Pomp and Circumstance”, the sound is also the best, the master freshness with little hiss, the pitch that is just and stable, the balance of each range… everything is at the top. Plus, it’s a great mix. As I mentioned in the commentary on the main press DVD, the audio in the pro shot of the Passaic performance is quite rough. Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar is extremely loud and often loses its balance. Although I was overwhelmed by the awesomeness of the video, the audio was not suitable for a live album. In that respect, this work is brilliant. Graham’s vocals are featured as the main character, and the guitar and Cozy Powell’s drumming are very well balanced.
