Description
I really want to see Freddy’s last brave appearance on video. Therefore, this is a video collection that compiles as many videos from the same last show as possible. The images contained in this work can be broadly divided into two types. Let’s introduce each one individually. [Multi-camera pro shot collection] First up is a collection of multi-camera pro shots that appeared from Freddie’s last show. This show was just the last special performance of “MAGIC TOUR”, and at that time it was not thought that it would be Freddie’s last. However, since it was a huge highlight performance that attracted 150,000 people, professional shots were taken. It has been used in various documentaries. This video is a compilation of such fragmentary professional shots by overseas enthusiasts. That said, it’s wonderful that it’s not just a collection of broken footage. Each scene is carefully connected, the mood of the show has been edited, and the scenes are arranged in chronological order. The crowd gradually gathered after the venue was set up, members entered the venue by helicopter, Freddie and Brian warmed up in the dressing room, and the mood gradually increased. And even after the show starts, professional shots for 5 songs are spelled out in the order of the actual show. Although each song is incomplete, you can feel the flow of the day in the digest, and it is like a 9-minute video clip with the theme of the Knebworth performance. [Full show screen shot] No matter how great the professional shot is, a 9 minute digest will never be enough. That’s where the second video appears. This is a full audience shot of the last concert. This video was also loved as part of “KNEBWORTH 1986”, and is truly a monumental masterpiece. The key is the angle. It’s a screen shot that keeps staring at the huge screen at the scene even before the performance begins, and it’s almost like a professional shot. Of course, this was a time when handheld cameras were finally becoming popular, and the on-site screens themselves were not as beautiful as they are today. There is a lattice pattern that looks like it was projected onto a block wall, but you can still see the full show captured by the on-site camera staff using multiple cameras. Moreover, the view is spectacular. Occasionally, the arms of the passengers in front of you may get caught, but it’s just that it’s not zero. The audience is barely visible as they only look up, and in most scenes, only Freddy’s last brave figure is visible. The video alone is overwhelming, but the audio of this work is also superb. The miraculous audience recording by “Crazy S.” is synchronized (the recording is about 7 minutes longer than the video, so the screen goes dark in some parts). However, the version is different from the main press 2CD. It is not the latest digitization, but a version that was digitized several years ago, but it is still overwhelmingly exquisite. After all, this master direct is said to be one of the top five QUEEN audience recordings. Although it is slightly inferior to the main press 2CD, it is the difference between standing on the top of a mountain and standing on the highest rock at the top. Moreover, this recording and the scene in the screen shot fit perfectly. In the case of a multi-camera system where the scene changes from various angles, if the sound is poorly done and has a strong sense of distance or direction, it can create a sense of discomfort with each cut. However, the “Crazy S.” master is so close that you can’t tell the recording position. Therefore, whether the image is close-up or a long-distance spectacle, distance and direction do not matter. It amplifies the professional shot feeling of the video many times over. What is truly depicted with such visual beauty and audio is QUEEN’s last show. The persuasive power that comes with the spectacle is on another level. Not just each song, but Freddie’s every move, his smile and his sincere expression are all “the last.” Freddie excited the venue with “Tutti Frutti,” then took off his jacket and started playing “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The feeling of breathing as you slowly drink a sip of water…you can experience all of this with soundboard-like sound and multi-camera video. This is the last scene of QUEEN that fans all over the world wanted to be there for. This is a video work that is a compilation of professional shots and full screen shots left from the one and only stage. A piece that allows you to witness Freddie’s last brave appearance and make the complete experience of the memorial show come true.
