Description

This is a 2CD soundboard album that lets you experience the overwhelming perfection! This work is engraved with the “Houston performance on December 11, 1977”. It is the best soundboard recording. At the beginning, I said “video” and “pro shot”, but this work is a live album with only audio. The Houston performance is famous for its pro shots, but the soundboard audio is also known as the best masterpiece of QUEEN in the 1970s. In fact, the video version “HOUSTON 1977: 2024 REMASTER”, which will be released at the same time, has updated the audio to the highest peak, and this work is a live album of the upgraded audio. Before the quality of the show, let’s start with the position of the show. Speaking of 1977, it is the time when the two tours “A DAY AT THE RACES Tour” and “NEWS OF THE WORLD Tour” switched, so let’s check it against the activity summary at that time. 1977 A DAY AT THE RACES Tour” January 13th – March 18th: North America #1 (40 performances) May 8th – June 7th: Europe #1 (19 performances) “NEWS OF THE WORLD Tour” November 11th – December 22nd: North America #2 (26 performances) ←★Here★ 1978 April 12th – May 13th: Europe #2 (20 performances) “JAZZ Tour” October 28th – December 20th: North America #3 (35 performances) This is QUEEN in 1977/1978. It was a fulfilling period of constant touring and album production, and the Houston performance of this work was the “NEWS OF THE WORLD Tour”. It was the 20th concert of “North America #2”, which is also the main leg of that tour. Now, as mentioned above, this work is a pro-shot work “HOUSTON 1977: 2024” which will be released at the same time. This is the live album version of “HOUSTON 1977: 2024 REMASTER”. The superb sound board sound, which was called the completely official class from the conventional version, has been further upgraded to the highest peak update version. The upgrade covers both quality and quantity. First of all, the quantity is the “true complete version” as with the video version. A new master was discovered that also recorded the MC part that was missing from the conventional master, and it was patched to the highest peak master. A complete album was realized that was seamlessly recorded without a single second missing from the start to the end of the performance. The DVD “HOUSTON 1977: 2024 REMASTER” made full use of six types of material, but this work, which is audio, only has two types. Based on the conventional highest peak master “A” as mentioned in the video version commentary, the missing parts are complemented with the new master “B”. Let’s check out the full set based on the parts patched here. Dedicated to the World (5 songs + α) We Will Rock You (slow/fast) Get Down Make Love My Melancholy Blues (*★) We Are The Champions Sheer Heart Attack Others (18 songs + α)・A Night at the Opera: Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to…)/I’m In Love With My Car/You’re My Best Friend/Love Of My Life/’39/Bohemian Rhapsody・A Magnificent Race: Somebody To Love (★)/Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy (★)/The Millionaire Waltz (★)/White Man (*★)/Tie Your Mother Down・Sheer Heart Attack: Brighton Rock/Killer Queen/Now I’m Here (*)/Stone Cold Crazy (★)・Others: Liar (★)/Keep Yourself Alive/Jailhouse Rock (★) *Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that was not heard on the traditional work “LIVE KILLERS”. The “*” mark indicates a song that was supplemented by a newly excavated master. …And so it goes. The three tracks that were patched were “My Melancholy Blues”, “White Man” and “Now I’m Here”. The video version also utilized fragmented official materials, but perhaps it was difficult to connect sounds with different textures (or perhaps they replaced them but did not upgrade them), and the official sound was not used. This “complete soundboard” is quite valuable in the history of QUEEN boots. For example, the 1974 Rainbow Park was edited from multiple live performances, and the 1975 Hammersmith performance was missing an encore. The 1977 Earls Court performance also had some cuts in “Procession”. The truly perfect soundboard would be the 1976 Hyde Park and this work. However, the performance parts themselves were all complete in the conventional version, so the upgrade that is more important than the quantity may be the quality. This is the result of careful work. Even though it is said to be at the highest level, there is strictly hiss and click noise, and some of the conventional versions (depending on the item) had strong noise reduction that distorted the performance sound. However, the maniacs who worked on this work are super natural. The hiss was corrected only to the limit of what would not affect the sound of the performance, and the click noise was fixed one by one. They found it in the waveform, fixed it, listened to it, and played the whole thing over and over again, digging into every detail. The technique and precision are reminiscent of our familiar “GRAF ZEPPELIN” mastering. Whether it was “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL”, which was released in theaters the other day and became a hot topic, or the early “A NIGHT AT THE ODEON”, it was a masterpiece that could not be ignored not only as a video work but also as a live album. This Houston performance upgrade is at the same level as those official works. The strongest full live album of the “NEWS OF THE WORLD Tour” that should be preserved forever along with the video edition. The finest soundboard recording of the “Houston performance on December 11, 1977”. The soundboard audio of the video version “HOUSTON 1977 2024: REMASTER” released at the same time is fully recorded, including the MC that was cut in the conventional version, utilizing the newly excavated master. This is a true complete version without even a second missing. This is a historic decision board with the sound that runs through the entire story improved in accuracy by careful noise processing.
