Description
QUEEN returned to Japan in 1981 as America’s No. 1 band. The famous masterpiece, which was hailed as the best masterpiece even at the Japan performance of Kishoten, is now available as an upgraded version. The famous album is “KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE”. This is a superb audience recording that was highly praised as the longest and best live album of the “February 13, 1981: Nippon Budokan” performance. There were no local performances during this year’s visit to Japan, only 5 days at the Nippon Budokan. This work is on the second day. First of all, let’s imagine the position of the show from the schedule. ・February 12: Nippon Budokan ・February 13: Nippon Budokan [This work] – 2 days off – February 16: Nippon Budokan ・February 17: Nippon Budokan ・February 18: Nippon Budokan This day There are two types of recordings, one is traditionally famous with titles such as “NEED YOU LOVING ROCK” and “BATTLE THEME.” The other is a recording that was later discovered and is known for our store’s “PLAY FLASH GAME.” “KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE” is based on the highest peak of traditional recording masters, and the missing parts are supplemented with “PLAY FLASH GAME”. This is the first live album in history to seamlessly record a full show. Moreover, it was not just a combination of two recordings. Even with the main traditional recordings, the quality is different, and the master quality version newly discovered about 7 years ago is used. It was longer than the previous releases, and the sound that covered the whole story was also overwhelming. On top of that, the drum solo and timpani solo of “Keep Yourself Alive” that were missing due to tape changes etc. were also supplemented. It was a complete live album that shrugged off many previous releases in terms of both quality and recording time. Of course, that alone is “the pinnacle of the second day at Budokan”, but “KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE” was “Japan’s best masterpiece in 1981” that transcended that. The main reason for this is the show. Actually, when he came to Japan this year, there was a preview screening of the movie “FLASH GORDON” before the live show, but Freddie was absent due to poor health. Perhaps because of that, I was a little restrained in my singing style on the first day. However, perhaps relieved that they made it through the first day safely, or relieved that they will have two days off, on the second day they were in top form. The vocalization that controls the high range with ease is exquisite, and there is plenty of glossy singing voice. “We Will Rock You” has a powerful voice, “Let Me Entertain You” has a great sharpness, “Killer Queen” has excellent ad-libs that almost go too far, and the dynamic “Get Down, Make Love”. You can fully enjoy Freddie’s singing voice that shines in every song. This strong performance was felt even on the third day after the break, but after that, perhaps due to fatigue (although it wasn’t bad), he gradually started to lack energy. In addition to the wonderful sound and complete recording, even the live performance itself shines. That’s why it was called a “masterpiece.” I wrote this for a long time, but this is all about “KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE,” which has already been released. This work is a wonder board in which such a masterpiece has been further upgraded. Of course, we are not trying to increase the sound pressure in any way. It was originally a wonderful sound, but in this work, each range has been further examined. The balance that was slightly biased toward the midrange has been loosened, and the sound of each instrument has been adjusted. As a result, the slightly unnatural instrument sounds regain their original brilliance, and even the finest outlines are vivid. By achieving a three-dimensional effect that makes you feel even the gaps between the members, we were able to achieve a sound that allows Freddie’s vocals to shine through. The wonderful thing about the masterpiece show drawn with that sound. I will avoid repeating the great performances, but this show is not only about that. This tour was to promote not only “THE GAME” but also “FLASH GORDON”, but on this day you can listen to a long medley that includes “Vultan’s Theme (the song used in the movie where Vultan flies)” . This song is an extremely rare song that has only been recorded in Japan since 1981, and on this day it is being premiered all over the world. Even more rare are mistakes. The medley then continues with “Battle Theme” → “Flash” → “The Hero”, but at this point Brian plays “Battle Theme” endlessly and Freddie can’t get in and it gets confusing. . Also, although it is a little different from a mistake, “Save Me” is more like an accident. Before the song begins, Freddie yells at the restless audience, “Shut up!” The audience was laughing and the mood was peaceful, but apparently there was a group of Americans at the scene who were getting drunk and making a lot of noise. However, these Americans were in the back seats, and the entire venue was buzzing with excitement. Freddy’s shout is also a joke, so I don’t know who he said it to, but you can listen to some funny scenes with super-superb sound. Anyway, super superb sound, seamless complete recording, and a great show. This masterpiece album has been revived with quality that updates the peak. This is an absolute CD that allows you to experience how amazing QUEEN was in their heyday at the scene in Japan.
