Description
“THE WORKS TOUR” in 1985 was Freddie’s last visit to Japan before his death. The latest and best version of the iconic pro shot has been decided to be released. The main story of this work is “May 11, 1985, Yoyogi National Stadium.” This is the broadcast version of the multi-camera pro shot that is familiar from the official work “FINAL LIVE IN JAPAN”. There was also an FM broadcast on this day, and the natural sound that far exceeds the official one has become legendary, but it was also broadcast on the music program “Young Music Show”. This work is a DVD version of the best air check master. [Excellent different master] This work is a masterpiece that was directly inherited from the master who recorded the broadcast at the time by a recording enthusiast and was directly digitized. I have introduced an air check master with similar content as “DEFINITIVE FINAL CONCERT IN TOKYO”, but this work is a different master recorded by another recorder. It doesn’t surpass the greatest masters in history, but it’s not inferior either. Although the color development and detail feel are different, this work is still a top-class master. In fact, the quality is just amazing. The nostalgic logo splits from side to side, and QUEEN’s performance at Yoyogi Stadium begins. The clear image quality is astounding, and you can’t believe it’s a video recording of an air check. There is no screen distortion or tracking noise, and the image quality is as beautiful as if it were produced from a laser disc. The camera work is similar to the official video, but the timing of camera changes and angles used are slightly different, and more close-up shots of Freddie Mercury are used than in the official video. In addition, Japanese captions are included here and there, and Japanese translations of the lyrics are also played for “Under Pressure,” “Is This The World We Created?,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “We Are The Champions” (why only four songs!?) . That alone is surprising, but what is truly shocking is the sound. The FM radio broadcast also had a wonderful natural mix that was “beyond the official one,” but this work goes even further, with even smoother and richer mid-bass. Because the program is a 50-minute program, eight songs were broadcast on official and FM radio: “Somebody to Love,” “Killer Queen,” “Impromptu,” “Now I’m Here,” “Love of My Life,” “Hammer to Fall,” and “I Want to.” Since there is no “Break Free” and “Jailhouse Rock,” it cannot be easily said that this work is number one, but as far as sound quality is concerned, it is the number one quality that surpasses even the best FM broadcasts. [Bonus professional shot of a passionate performance in which he performs his own lip syncing] In addition to such “Young Music Show”, this work also includes two valuable professional shots (3 songs) as a bonus. Both are TV pro shots of “MONTREUX POP FESTIVAL”, and this is also the Japanese broadcast version with Japanese subtitles. One is “May 12, 1984” from the “THE WORKS” era, and the other is “May 11, 1986” from the “A KIND OF MAGIC” era. At first glance, it looks like a concert filled with fans, but it’s actually a promotion for the release of an album. This is a mime performance that goes along with the album track. I was surprised by the size of the audience, which was different from the usual lip-sync performances, but Freddie’s enthusiastic performance was also far from mime. The action was just like an actual show, and even during the vocal part, they took the microphone away and pointed it at the audience (of course, you could hear the song as it was: lol). The familiar song “Ay-Oh” includes a live voice, so it would be better if it was broadcast as a live performance. Maybe Freddie doesn’t like the mime either, and takes the microphone away in at least a form of rebellion. The highest version of Yoyogi Pro Shot that surpasses the official one, and the exciting and hot TV appearance Pro Shot. This is a video work that allows you to enjoy both Japanese broadcast versions in the highest quality. This is a perfect piece for core collectors who want to complete their collection, as well as those who are wondering, “Is the broadcast version of 1985 Yoyogi really better?” Live at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan 11th May 1985 PRO-SHOT (62:14) 1.
