Description

Just a year ago, we released “STOCKHOLM 1986: THE FIRST SHOW OF THE MAGIC TOUR” to celebrate 30 years since the 1986 Magic Tour, which became the last clean live tour. It has been well-received among enthusiasts around the world as a valuable sound source that captures the first day of the glorious tour. The importance of the Magic Tour is emphasized as time passes. The advantage of being able to capture the starting point and listen to it on CD was too great. The stage was full of tension unique to the first day, which could not be captured by the various official items that have been released. In terms of sound quality, the audience recording on this day was not at a level that could be ranked high on the tour. It is far from Vienna and Manchester, let alone Berlin and Knebworth. However, it was an audience recording in 1986, and it maintained a level that could be listened to without stress. However, if it had been a little rougher… that is probably the impression that everyone had of this sound source. A year after the release of this sound source, our shop finally got hold of a first-generation copy of this Stockholm sound source. How much difference is there really? Such worries were blown away the moment it was played. The upper feeling is so clear that you can hear it at a glance. The clarity that literally peeled off the skin is really amazing! This wipes out the “roughness” mentioned earlier, which is the biggest advantage of this sound source. With sound quality with this level of clarity, even non-enthusiasts can enjoy it with peace of mind. And because the sound quality has improved, the hectic feeling unique to the first day of the tour stands out even more. The first day of the Magic Tour, which was full of that glorious atmosphere, also showed such a restless performance… The real pleasure of a rare sound source is that you can enjoy such an other side. As mentioned in the release a year ago, the first half of the show is especially fun because the performance is running. This strangely speedy groove feeling is completely different from the performance after the tour got on track. Even if it’s inevitable that the roughness stands out in a song like “One Vision” that was just introduced as a live repertoire, even “Under Pressure” and “Another One Bites The Dust”, which have been played for years and should be played with a rock-solid performance, are played so smoothly that it’s almost laughable. In the latter, Freddie almost lost track of the beginning of the song. While there are some roughness in the performance, it is also worth mentioning that Freddie’s voice is sharp because it is the first day of the tour. Especially for those who are used to listening to the official Wembley Stadium, this will be very fresh. As I have said many times, the instability of the band’s performance is noticeable in the first half of the show, and Freddie seems to be nervous, but it is still pleasant to hear his very relaxed singing voice. The fact that “Bohemian Rhapsody” was treated as a “regular repertoire” played in the first half of the show on this day only was a topic unique to the first day of the tour, and Freddie’s singing voice was also in top form. His beautifully extended singing voice was reminiscent of 1981 and 1982. Freddie’s voice was in top form, riding on the backing performance that sometimes seemed to run and sometimes seemed to grab the momentum. And after “Love Of My Life”, the stiffness up to that point was gone at once, and yet the band’s light-footed performance was amazing. It is clear that the oldies acoustic corner, which was a popular part every night on the Magic Tour, was a success and released them from tension. After that, the four of them each played well, and “Radio Ga Ga” was a very good performance. It was also full of vitality unique to the first day of the tour. However, on this day only, “Friends Will Be Friends” was not included in the encore, and the show ended simply with the same development as the past tours, which is interesting. Originally, it was a sound source that captured the happenings and momentum unique to the first day of the tour, and is well-known among enthusiasts. However, with the appearance of this upper version, more listeners will be able to enjoy the first day of the Magic Tour. When making it into a CD, the pitch that had been randomly out of whack from the middle stage was adjusted to achieve a more perfect recording. The sound source that was considered “recorder 1” in the “SWEDISH MAGIC NIGHT” that we produced in the past was made into a CD last year with “STOCKHOLM 1986: THE FIRST SHOW OF THE MAGIC TOUR”. And this time, with the appearance of an undisputed upper version using a first generation copy, the definitive version of the legendary first day of the tour that enthusiasts around the world would have been waiting for will be released.
