Description
The legendary masterpiece record of QUEEN’s last performance in Japan has been brushed up. The one that shines at the top of all the world and all careers is now updated to the highest peak. The “top board” is the “May 15, 1985: Osaka Castle Hall” performance. It is the final day of QUEEN’s 6th Japan tour, and it is a superb audience recording that truly records Freddie’s last Japanese stage. This week, the super best live album from this last visit to Japan will be released simultaneously. Let’s organize the top works for each day here. ・May 8: Nippon Budokan ・May 9: Nippon Budokan → “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1985 2ND NIGHT” ・May 11: National Yoyogi Stadium → “DEFINITIVE FINAL CONCERT IN TOKYO” ・May 13: Aichi Prefecture Gym →DEFINITIVE NAGOYA 1985”・May 15th: Osaka Castle Hall [This work] A total of 5 performances. There are truly DEFINITIVE collections lined up, but this work is one that is too special among them. After all, it is the last Live in Japan left by Freddie, but the sound quality is even better than that. In the commentary for “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1985 2ND NIGHT,” which was released at the same time, I wrote that it was “competing for 1st and 2nd place,” but this work is its rival. It has been loved as “LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN” for many years, and is a master that is proudly called “No. 1 of all audience recordings” on overseas sound source sites. In fact, both works are so amazing that it makes you wonder, “Which is cuter, Hiroko Yakushimaru or Tomoyo Harada?” However, their individuality is clearly different, and while “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1985 2ND NIGHT” allows you to enjoy the spectacle of Freddie’s relaxed singing voice, this work is completely close-up. The type of sound is exactly like a sound board, and you can feel the four people right next to you. There are times when you can feel the huge cheers coming from the “other side” of the extremely loud performance, and if you listen to it without knowing anything, it’s a super-excellent sound that will give you the illusion that it’s an FM broadcast or an official live album. This work is the best of the best, re-digitizing such a super famous recording from the original master and refining it with meticulous remastering according to 2018 standards. Of course, we have thoroughly re-washed the overall sound, but the biggest point is to completely eliminate the shortcomings that have been overlooked (or should we say, the basics are so amazing that we didn’t even think of them as shortcomings). I repaired it. One is the stereo feeling. If you have the previous version, please listen to it again with headphones. You’ll notice that from the middle of the show, “Is This The World We Created?” to the final stage, “Radio Ga Ga,” I’m leaning towards the right channel. This is as it was recorded on the master cassette, but this work correctly restores the balance. The result is a finish that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the full show while maintaining a natural stereo feel. The other part is the missing recording part. The middle part of “Radio Ga Ga” was missing from the original cassette, and the middle part of “I Want To Break Free” was not recorded. This part was supplemented with a different sound source in the previous version, but this work is started over from scratch. In contrast to the previous releases, which were simply connected, this work is seamlessly connected after thoroughly aligning everything from the sound texture to the stereo feeling. Up until now, you’ve felt like, “Oh, the master has changed here”, but with this work, even if you’re careful with headphones, you’ll feel like “the master has changed before you know it.” This gapless sense of unity is truly wonderful. In fact, in Osaka, which was also the last day of the world tour, Freddie’s voice was a bit rough, and it was not as good as the best “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1985 2ND NIGHT”. However, that one word, that one voice, was the last for Japan. Listen carefully to the breath, passionate performance, and immerse yourself thoroughly… When considering the role of this work, the gap-free sound that is the source of excitement is supreme. And the content is also the last show. Of course, at the time, Freddie probably didn’t think it would be his last time in Japan, but because it was the last day of the show, there was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement throughout, and there was a lot of fun throughout. In the piano improvisation before “Killer Queen”, passages of “My Fairly King” and “March Of Black Queen” are performed, and even in “Jailhouse Rock”, a passage of “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going” pops out. Furthermore, as an intro to “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” is played in almost its entirety for three and a half minutes. The spirit and openness of Chiakiraku, who completed the world tour, is on full display. QUEEN finished “THE WORKS TOUR” with this show and returned to Japan, and the next stage was that LIVE AID. And “those four” never set foot on Japanese soil together again. Yes, what is engraved in this work is a night in Osaka that is too special for Japan and for QUEEN. A super definitive edition that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the entire story with transcendental quality that is declared to be “No. 1 in all audience recordings”. ★Although the sound quality of the main part is high, the left channel of the part recorded on side B of the first 90-minute tape is lower than the other tape sides, so the balance is on the right side, so equalize it. I adjusted and fixed it. Great effect when listening with headphones. *The following is the part recorded on side B. Now I’m Here 6:01 – Radio Ga Ga 4:30★The supplementary parts have been newly equalized and reconnected, so the sound quality and smoothness of the connection have improved by a huge difference from the previous release.
