Description

“JAZZ JAPAN TOUR 1979” was the largest in QUEEN’s history of visiting Japan. Introducing a superb live album that permanently preserves the entire two performances in Osaka. This work includes the “April 19th + 20th, 1979: Osaka Festival Hall” performance. This is a 4-disc audience set that brushes up on that traditional masterpiece recording. First of all, let’s start with the show’s position. At our store, we have archived many masterpieces from Japan tours that reached the peak of Japan’s popularity, but let’s organize the collection by schedule. ・April 13th: Nippon Budokan “BUDOKAN 1979 1ST NIGHT” ・April 14th: Nippon Budokan “BUDOKAN 1979 2ND NIGHT” ・April 19th: Osaka Festival Hall [Disc 1-2 of this work] ・April 20th : Osaka Festival Hall [Disc 3-4 of this work] ・April 21st: Practical Ethics Memorial Hall ・April 23rd: Nippon Budokan “PRIDE AND JOY” ・April 24th: Nippon Budokan ・April 25th: Japan Budokan “BUDOKAN 1979” ・April 27th: Kobe Central Gymnasium ・April 28th: Nagoya International Exhibition Center “THE PLEASURE CHEST” ・April 30th + May 1st: Fukuoka Kyuden Gymnasium “MEMORIAL GYM” ・May 2nd: Yamaguchi Prefectural Gymnasium / May 5th + 6th: Makomanai Ice Arena *Note: Only representative works are shown on each day. Above, 15 performances in total. QUEEN’s Japan tour lasted an average of 8.3 times, and the schedule clearly shows how popular they were at the time. Among them, the Osaka performance is a two-day consecutive performance at Festival Hall, and this work is a live album that includes both of them. It is a 4-disc set that truly sums up “Osaka in 1979”, but its quality is also monumental. In fact, the recording itself has been known for a long time and can be traced back to the traditional masterpiece “ZOOM 1979”. However, the quality is different. The pitch that was slower than the real performance is completely corrected, and hiss noise is also removed. Of course, we took great care not to affect the performance sound, and faithfully reproduced the sound that roared through the festival hall 40 years ago. There was once “ULTIMATE DREAMER” with a similar concept, but this work is even more precise. The outline of each note is clear, and even the gaps between instruments are vivid. By organizing the sound image, even the stereo feeling has been reborn dynamically. Mastering is done to bring out the potential of the recording itself while valuing the beauty of the original sound, so it hasn’t changed to the point of being “completely different,” but it has definitely updated the highest peak. In fact, the recording is so good that you can’t change it too much. The best thing about it is its sturdy core. It cuts through the space and jumps straight into your hands, and the bass, which tends to be a weakness in audience recordings, is also powerful. Moreover, the sense of stability is excellent. It has a lot of power that comes close to you, but even in fortissimo, it doesn’t shake and is glossy. At the same time, the Japanese MCs such as Freddie’s “Conbanha! Ikaga desu ka? We are Osaka Nimata kira Rete happy” and Brian’s “Yokumi emasuka? Yokumon koemasuka?” are clear without missing a single syllable. It is a famous recording that lasts the whole two days. The performance sound alone is amazing, but it is so beautiful that it is so beautiful that it reaches its peak of popularity. In fact, there are too many cheers to call it “just like official,” but the sense of the times is amazing. The yellow voice is screaming. Although there was no close-up voice and the sound of the performance was too strong, the balance was pushed out by QUEEN, but the youthfulness of the voice was present in each move, and the sense of perspective welled up from the depths of the venue. And then there was the sea of clapping that never stopped, with all the clapping that you would expect from a girl from Western music in the 70s…it was just so wonderful. Since his first visit to Japan, he has been gaining popularity in Japan, ahead of the rest of the world, but 1979 was the final blow. It is also a documentary album that allows you to feel it in your own skin. There’s no way a show could be bad for stirring up so much enthusiasm and stirring it back up. In general, it feels like “LIVE KILLERS’ Osaka edition,” but the set was changed because it was two consecutive performances at the same venue. Let’s sort out the songs that can’t be heard even on the traditional official live album “LIVE KILLERS”. ●April 19th (first day: Disc 1-2) “Somebody To Love”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, “It’s Late” ●April 20th (second day: Disc 3-4) “We Will Rock You (slow)” ”, “Somebody To Love”, “If You Can’t Beat Them”, “Hand in Hand”, “It’s Late” There are some songs that overlap in two days, but I would like to pay particular attention to the second day. The first day will start with the fast “We Will Rock You” as usual, but the second day will start with that rhythm and restart with the fast version. They will also perform “If You Can’t Beat Them” which is not on the first day. It’s more than that: “Hand in hand.” It is a promised song that can be said to be a specialty of the Japanese performance, but the second day in Osaka is actually the world premiere. Contrary to today’s common sense, the audience, who were not expecting the performance, erupted in screams as soon as Freddie called out the name of the song. In fact, the reaction was so terrible that when Freddy said, “Take my hand…” the screams exploded, making it difficult to hear the word “tai”. And then, at the chorus, a loud, yet beautiful chorus rises up. After that, it is a famous song that will be a highlight of the Japanese performance many times, but it is wonderful from the first time, and the surprise and joy that is because it is the first time is too dazzling. Come to think of it, it’s been two years since “A DAY AT THE RACE” was released, and the long-awaited yet unfulfilled QUEEN revisit. It is an exquisite take that symbolizes that joy. Japan’s Queen fever has continued to grow ever since her legendary first visit to Japan. This is the definitive edition where you can experience the 1979 Osaka performance, which reached its peak, for two whole days, with the best sound ever. Japan and QUEEN are special. This is a historical great album that makes you realize something that is so obvious.
