Description

The new excavation master has arrived, which is being talked about as “the first shock of 2021!” The live album that collectors all over the world are excited about has been decided to be released urgently. What is infused into this work is “January 30, 1977 Toledo performance”. This is the first appearance audience recording. The title, date, venue, first appearance… some of you may have already been intrigued by it. Yes, it’s the QUEEN edition, which is a sister work to THIN LIZZY’s “TOLEDO 1977″ that was released the other day! I’m suddenly excited, but I’m sure there are many people who say they’re not interested in THIN LIZZY, so let’s start from the beginning. This show was also part of “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR” with THIN LIZZY as the opening act. First, as usual, let’s look back at the schedule at that time. “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR”・January 13th – March 18th: North America #1 (40 performances) ←★Here★・May 8th – June 7th: Europe #1 (19 performances)《10 “NEWS OF THE WORLD TOUR” released on April 28th “NEWS OF THE WORLD TOUR” November 11th – December 22nd: North America #2 (26 performances) This is QUEEN in 1977. In the first half of the year, they are conducting a tour in conjunction with “Splendid Race”, and the Toledo performance of this work is the beginning of that tour. This was the 13th concert of “North America #1″. Speaking of this “North America #1”, legendary master Mike Millard’s super masterpiece “L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT” is also fresh in my memory, but this work was also released about a month before that. This work, which was recorded at such a show, is an audience recording that is more than anything else. The only thing I regret is the length. Actually, the taper that recorded this work was recording from THIN LIZZY, so the main QUEEN’s battery ran out midway through. I ran out of energy after about half of the show (10 songs, about 44 minutes). Originally, they had prepared replacement batteries, but on this night they accidentally forgot them. It was a regrettable and careless mistake. Moreover, the sound, show, and show are great, so the regret is doubled. If you have experienced the THIN LIZZY edition, you probably know that this recording has no problems in terms of sound. Although it is a vintage audience and not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board, the clarity and strength that offset the sense of distance are wonderful, and the fresh master freshness and response are plenty. If you take into account the fact that it is a “QUEEN performance that no one has ever heard before”, it is more than enough… or rather, it is a famous recording that “I will not save this forever!?” Moreover, this work is its highest peak. As a matter of fact, this recording was released in two systems. It was first uploaded as a compressed sound source on a certain video site, and later a lossless remastered version was released. Of course, I thought the latter would be better, but it wasn’t. In fact, the mastering, which seems to have been done by the recorder himself, has a poor reputation. Video sites that use compressed sound sources have become more natural and popular. So, which one is this work? The correct answer is “a lossless sound source corrected to a natural balance.” Since the original sound without any deterioration is used, there is no feeling of compression, and the feeling of mastering processing is also relaxed. It is the best version that combines the strengths of both (I originally wanted the master original sound to be released lossless). And what is depicted with that sound is “Toledo’s QUEEN” that no one has ever heard before. Each note is a series of first experiences, but he is in good shape! Up until now, the reputation of the 1977 “North American #1” was that “in January, right after the start, the engine wasn’t running well, but in February it really showed its true potential.” However, this work, which was released at the end of January, is already full of excitement, which was thought to start in February! Perhaps because the engine was running at full power for the 13th performance, Freddie’s singing voice had good tension and growth, and the ensemble had a solid momentum. The starting dash in the early stages was great, and the flow in the middle was also good. Now, let’s get excited towards the end… and that’s when the recording ended. Hmm, it feels like it’s an oddity, or rather, it feels like it’s being taken away. After all, it is a masterpiece that is “too bad!” Although it ends on a good note, nothing can replace the real thrill of being able to experience a Toledo performance for the first time that I had never had the chance to listen to before. This is the best version of a newly discovered sound source that is surprising collectors all over the world. It’s a fresh and fun piece because it’s now.
