Description
QUEEN in 1984 returned to the road after a gap of about 2 years. A masterpiece live album that conveys the home country show that has just been restarted is now available. This work includes “Wembley performance on September 8, 1984”. “LIVE AID” Wembley Stadium… It is a live album at Wembley Arena, which is right next to it. By the way, QUEEN has appeared at Wembley Stadium for a total of three times: “LIVE AID” + “MAGIC TOUR”. On the other hand, they have performed 10 shows at Wembley Arena, especially 4 consecutive performances on “THE WORKS TOUR”. This work will be the last night of that. What kind of position was such a show on the world tour? As usual, let’s check the overall view. ●1984《“THE WORKS” released on February 27th》・August 24th-September 30th: Europe (23 performances) ←★Here★・October 5th-20th: South Africa (9 performances)●1985 January 11th + 18th: ROCK IN RIO (2 performances) April 13th-29th: Oceania (9 performances) May 8th-15th: Japan (5 performances) July 13th: LIVE AID This is “THE WORKS TOUR 1984-1985” The whole picture. The Wembley performance of this work is the 10th performance and the final performance of the UK tour. In other words, for fans in their home country of England, it was also the concert that preceded that “LIVE AID”. Recordings of this show have been known for a long time, and a wonderful master was discovered especially in 2006. It was well received at our store as “TRUST IN ONE ANOTHER”. This work is also an upgrade version of that masterpiece. In fact, although it is the same recording, it is a new excavation master with a longer and better sound. Although it is small, a part that is not in the previous episode is recorded at the cut point, and it is about 30 seconds long even after the end. However, that is just proof of the new master. The important thing is the sound that permeates the whole thing. Anyway, the fresh and clear sound is exquisite. Unlike a stadium, Wembley Arena is an indoor venue (about the same size as the Yoyogi Daiichi Gymnasium), so there is some sound from the hall, but it is crystal clear and the performance can be heard directly. Although QUEEN’s characteristic chorus feels manly and thick, the solid performance sound penetrates right through the middle. Especially when you turn the volume up to a high volume, the core feels extremely thick, and with that, even the subtleties are clearly and beautifully transmitted. Moreover, this work is even more meticulously mastered with such a new master. Naturally, the pitch that was out of whack was adjusted to normal, and the sound was also corrected. Of course, it is not a matter of recklessly increasing the sound pressure, but rather valuing the natural and neat taste of the original sound, and organizing the sound for each range. The clarity and vividness have been greatly improved, and the potential of the original sound has been brought out to the fullest. With such a sound, a passionate performance announcing his return to his home country fans is depicted. “THE WORKS TOUR” gives the impression that fatigue accumulates as it progresses towards the end, but this UK tour is still in the early stages and rather than being tired, it feels like the engines are starting to kick in. Freddie’s singing voice is also powerful, and you can enjoy a show that flies well. And the set, which is unique to the early stages, is also delicious. “THE WORKS TOUR” was also characterized by the revival of early songs, but in this work, they also played “Staying Power”, “Stone Cold Crazy” and “Great King Rat”, which were not performed at the final stage of the tour in Japan. There is also a strong sense of culmination. All of the songs were up to the “European” leg and there was no revival after that, but “Staying Power” is especially valuable. Although this is not the last performance, it is almost close to it, and the ensemble with Spike Edney and the arrangement that falls into “Dragon Attack” are unique to this period. Also, the MC before “Love Of My Life” is a bit interesting. Brian plucked his 12-string and said, “I want to dedicate this song to all the kids. Actually, Roger’s son is coming tonight. It’s his first concert. He’s going to be a drummer.” says. My son is going to be a drummer…oh, Rufus. I thought it was actually Felix Taylor. In 1984, Rufus had not yet been born and Felix was four years old. Brian’s prediction turned out to be slightly off. A famous recording from 1984 revived with a new excavated master. This is a masterpiece of a vacuum-packed live album by QUEEN, who has returned to the road for the first time in two years and is about to jump out from the UK to the world again. ★The cut point is recorded a little longer than the previous episodes, especially the part after the show ends, which is about 30 seconds longer.
