Description
“July 12, 1986 Wembley Stadium Performance” is also familiar as an official work. An unexpected discovery of a superb soundboard master with a quality that surpasses even that wonderful official work. The true identity of this work is a radio broadcast master. The 1986 Wembley Stadium performance was set exactly one year after that “miraculous LIVE AID” and was one of the highlights of Freddie’s last “MAGIC TOUR”. The event attracted 150,000 people over two days, and tickets sold out immediately. Many legends were left behind, such as the final Knebworth performance being added in a hurry. That’s why the event is also broadcast on FM radio. After Freddie’s death, until “LIVE AT WEMBLEY ’86” was officially released, it has produced a number of previous releases. This work is also such an FM sound source, but it is neither a copy nor a remaster of a previous release. On the contrary, it is not even the broadcast master. In fact, it is the original master that was leaked from the people involved (it was brought through the same route as that famous album “DEFINITIVE FINAL CONCERT IN JAPAN”). However, even though it is the original version, it is basically the broadcast version. It is not a direct-connected soundboard that is recorded continuously, and has already been edited as if it were intended for broadcasting. It is not a full show, but 10 songs excerpted according to the approximately 40-minute broadcast time slot, and “Bohemian Rhapsody” is also placed in the middle. The content is far from a reproduction of the actual stage. However, what I still can’t help but introduce to you is the amazing sound. The mix is clearly different from the official one, making it even more natural and beautiful. Officially speaking, it’s clear, but the sound pressure increases so strongly that it sounds like it’s been squeezed to the limit. The peak that penetrates from that ensemble exceeds the limit and is painful to the ears. In contrast, this work is extremely natural. Although it is slightly warm because it has not been processed to be clear, the balance and sound are just like the QUEEN ensemble. Unlike the official sound, which is packed tightly, you can feel the gaps between the instruments, and thanks to this, you can vividly feel the expression of each note. All of the playing sounds and singing voices are beautiful, but what is especially surprising is the bass. As mentioned above, not only the tone but also the mix of this work is different from the official version, and the bass is thicker and fatter. Moreover, its luster is exquisite. The official sound was a powerful bass sound with an emphasis on the attack sound, but in this work, each note is smooth from the moment it starts to the moment it goes off. For this reason, the line is like a flowing river without stagnation, and the groove and dynamism are on a whole other level. More specifically, I feel like even the guitar and drums have been reborn thanks to the bass. The official sound is a “tip-top ensemble” with each peak hitting hard. In contrast, this work could be described as a “line ensemble” in which each instrument draws a line and intertwines organically. It’s a sound that goes beyond just audio quality, and even the flavor of the performance itself can be heard differently. “Wembley Stadium” was the site of the LIVE AID miracle and the Freddie memorial concert. The last Freddie who stood on the stage that could be said to be a symbol of late QUEEN. This is a shocking stereo soundboard master that allows you to hear the singing voice up close and with a much more natural sound than the official one. If this was a complete recording… this is a wonderful piece that would make me regret it. ★This is a completely different mix from the official Wembley video. It’s not about equalization or remastering, but an amazing stereo soundboard with a fundamentally different texture. I want to listen to it all now! A must-listen for all Queen fans!
