Description
A few years ago, the 3 sound sources that were uploaded to Queen’s overseas specialized site and became a hot topic will be released together on 2 discs. This is definitely a must-listen for all Queen fans! ! First, Disc 1 includes a high-quality stereo soundboard recording of Queen’s first live performance at the Rainbow Theater in London on March 31st. The bootleg LP “Master of Sheetkeeckers” is famous for this day’s line recording, and most of the records were dropped, but this one is of the highest quality, with no clouding at all, dropped from the reel tape at Trident Records Studio. Recorded on a stereo soundboard. Some footage has been confirmed at this day’s live, but this take is probably the best in history as a soundboard source. Please enjoy the spectacular performance in the reel tape master version, which boasts the highest sound quality ever (recording time is 38 minutes 47 seconds). Next is disk 2. This is the same Rainbow Theater performance on November 20th, the last day of the 1974 UK tour of the familiar video title “Sheer Heart Attack”, and it also includes two sources that appear for the first time. The first five tracks were copied directly from the acetate of Norman Sheffield, Queen’s first manager and owner of Trident Studios, which was released on CD for the first time. As mentioned above, with only 5 tracks, you can hear the fine scratch noise peculiar to vinyl records, but you can enjoy the November 20, 1974 Rainbow performance with high-quality sound that can be declared the best ever. In addition to the first three songs of the show, Father To Son, which was recorded in the middle of the show, is placed in the correct position and can be listened to in the original correct order (this is a recording of 22 minutes and 16 seconds). All fans must listen to the 5 songs that can be heard in the highest quality sound with no deterioration and outstanding freshness! Next is a version where only audio is extracted from 35mm film footage. It’s true that the sound quality itself is completely different from the Rainbow performances I’ve heard so far, and the explanation online is that the mix is different, but with such a difference in sound quality, it certainly sounds like a different thing. It’s the sound. The sound is good, but perhaps because the 35mm film was made with an audio master that is a branch of the master, the direct feel has receded and the edges of the sound give a mild impression. However, the freshness of the sound is not bad and there is little deterioration, so I think this is valuable as an original audio source. In terms of content, while the original was 52 minutes long, this take only recorded 32 minutes, and Ogre Battle, In The Lap Of The Gods, Son & Daughter, and Jailhouse Rock were cut, but at the beginning. It is valuable to be able to listen to the official edit version containing the official CIC intro directly from the 35mm audio master. It’s great to be able to listen to live takes that are familiar to fans with all three sound sources, but with new sources that they’ve never encountered before, and I think there’s something that fans can’t resist. This is an amazing collection of sound sources! A must-listen/must-have.
