Description
The first sound source from the first Japan tour in 1975. The Yokohama Gymnasium performance on April 30th, the 7th performance of the tour, was recorded in a high-quality audience recording for 76 minutes. This Yokohama performance has never been bootlegged before, and there was no take of the Yokohama performance in the past, so the appearance of this sound source stunned Queen enthusiasts around the world. Although there are problems such as cuts between songs and numerous popping analog noises, the sound quality is surprisingly very good and clear, and the feature in the May 2011 issue of beatleg states that “There is no doubt that this is at least a better sound quality audience recording than the Okayama and Shizuoka performances.” The opening Procession has a fixed microphone at the 20th second, and the sound field expands at once. The high-frequency sound is more than enough, and it is the moment when the listener goes “Huh?”. The vocals, guitar, and drums in Now I’m Here stand out brilliantly. Freddie’s MC after the show, which includes Japanese, is longer than usual and gives a natural feel. The power of Ogre Battle, which can be heard with this sound, is tremendous, and fans must listen. The surprise is that Great King Rat is played as the second song, introduced as “from the first album”, and of course, this is the Japanese premiere take. Until now, this rare song was thought to have only been played at the Budokan performance on May 1st on the Japanese tour, and was probably selected instead of Father To Son, but its hard and aggressive performance is the best part of the whole show. In the MC before and after, you can also hear MCs such as “Very nice to be in Yokohama!” and “Yokohama, Kanpai!”. In Killer Queen, you can also hear another very rare scene where Freddie forgets the lyrics and can’t sing after the second chorus. Although Son And Daughter is not included, the recording from the middle of the guitar solo, and the encore rock and roll medley are missing, the sound quality and performance are excellent, and for Japanese fans, it can be said to be a representative new recording in recent years. I sincerely hope that the master owner will release an uncut version in the future (in this version, the cut parts between each song have been naturally combined), but in any case, the first appearance of the 1975 Yokohama performance recording is a must-listen for all fans. The best version at this stage is recorded, with many noises carefully removed. This is a must-listen album that fans of all levels can enjoy, and it is a piece that allows you to fully enjoy the greatness of early Queen live performances.
