Description
The Kanazawa performance of the “JAZZ JAPAN TOUR” was made possible through a fan signature campaign. Introducing a super realistic document album that can be placed on the spot. This work includes the “April 21, 1979: Practical Ethics Memorial Hall” performance. This is a masterpiece audience recording. This year’s Japan tour was the largest ever for QUEEN to visit Japan. Our store also has an archive of many masterpieces, so let’s start by organizing the collection by date. ・April 13th “BUDOKAN 1979 1ST NIGHT” ・April 14th “BUDOKAN 1979 2ND NIGHT” ・April 19th + 20th “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1979” ・April 21st: Practical Ethics Memorial Hall ←★Here★・April 23rd: “PRIDE AND JOY” April 24th: Nippon Budokan April 25th: “BUDOKAN 1979” April 27th: Kobe Central Gymnasium April 28th: “THE PLEASURE CHEST”・4 May 30th + May 1st: “MEMORIAL GYM” / May 2nd: Yamaguchi Prefectural Gymnasium / May 5th + 6th: Makomanai Ice Arena *Note: Only representative works will be shown on each day. All in all, 15 performances. Perhaps because it was my first visit in three years, I traveled all over the archipelago, from Sapporo in the north to Fukuoka in the south. Among them, the Kanazawa performance was also realized. QUEEN performed 50 times in Japan during Freddie’s lifetime, but this was the only show in Kanazawa afterwards and before. This work, which records such a valuable show, is a fresh and realistic vintage audience. To be honest, the distance to the stage is quite a bit, so the sound requires some getting used to the audience, but once you get used to it, you can fully immerse yourself. Above all, the singing voice that reaches through the space is clear. Japanese such as “We are glad to be able to come to Kanazawa”, which is a one-off in history, “Cheers!” after “Somebody To Love”, and Brian’s “Good evening everyone. I’m fine. How are you?” etc. You can also hear the MC’s words clearly (perhaps because there is no performance, it is clearer than the singing part). The show drawn with such quality is a wonderful real document of Kanazawa’s real enthusiasm. As mentioned earlier, the show was made possible through a signature campaign, so the long-awaited joy was truly amazing. Although the up-close voices are only heard between songs, yellow screams erupt from every corner of the venue in response to Freddie’s every move. Sometimes it’s far away, sometimes it’s (slightly) close, and it repeats small explosions. It is so real that Freddy’s actions can be seen just by listening to the cheers. “Holding hands” turns that small explosion into a large explosion. Just saying “Please sing with me” caused a huge cheer, and when Freddie called out the name of the song, it felt like the Memorial Hall for Practical Ethics had swelled up. There are not only yellow voices but also male voices saying “Wow!” here and there. Then, a sea of clapping hands and a wide chorus… Although it is a special song only for Japan, the Osaka performance the day before was its worldwide premiere, and this day is the second time. Unlike today with the development of the Internet, there was no way for audiences back then to know about the show from the previous day. The fresh surprise and joy will be felt in your eyes and heart. As a matter of fact, QUEEN at that time had toured North America/Europe for a good four months before Japan, and perhaps because of that, neither Freddie nor Brian were in the best condition on this day. But that doesn’t matter. This joy is only for this moment. This is the only time on this night that he will be able to stand in front of the Kanazawa fans who have collected their signatures and express his gratitude. This is a real album where you can be present in such a space and breathe in the scent of the scene to your heart’s content. A one-of-a-kind night in Kanazawa that took place in the spring 40 years ago. This is a live album that lets you immerse yourself in the reality of the scene. A two-disc set packed with exquisite freshness that captures the best part of vintage audiences. ★The bass was too harsh, so I adjusted it to make it easier to listen to.
