Description

A major event that changed the history of Western music in Japan, which happened in April 44 years ago. QUEEN’s first visit to Japan. Another masterpiece live album that lets you experience the scene is born. This work includes the performance of “April 23, 1975: Kobe International Hall”. It is a long audience recording that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the whole scene. Speaking of their first visit to Japan, “TSUMAGOI 1975” was very well received the other day. First of all, let’s organize the collection by that date.・April 19: Nippon Budokan ・April 22: “NAGOYA 1975” ・April 23: “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975” & [This work] ・April 25: Fukuoka City Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium ・April 28: “FATAL ATTRACTION (Okayama)” ・April 29: “TSUMAGOI 1975” ・April 30: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium ・May 1: “AN EXCEPTIONAL LEGACY (Nippon Budokan)” * Only representative works for each performance. The above are all 8 performances of fate. Many of them are archived in our shop, and the Kobe performance has already been introduced in “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”. However, this work is a completely different recording from that. It is a recording that has been known among core traders for a long time, but it is only a story among friends. It is a treasure tape that has not been widely known to the general public until now. The biggest point is the length. Although “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975” was one of the best high quality sounds even for their first visit to Japan, unfortunately the recording ended with “Liar” near the end. In contrast, this work contains almost the entire show from the opening “Procession” to the ending “God Save The Queen”. You can also enjoy “In The Lap Of The Gods…Revisited”, “Big Spender”, “Modern Times Rock ‘n’ Roll”, “Jailhouse Rock”, “See What A Fool I’ve Been”, and “God Save The Queen”, which were not heard in “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”. Of course, tape change cuts are unavoidable since it is a recording from the cassette era, but this is also compensated for as much as possible in “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”. The opening 30 seconds of “Procession” and the middle part of “Stone Cold Crazy” are also seamlessly connected. Although it is not strictly a complete version because the first half of “See What A Fool I’ve Been” is missing, which is not even included in “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”, you can experience the precious first visit to Japan for 101 minutes and 13 seconds. I kept saying it was long, but of course the quality is excellent. Although it is not as clear as the peak record “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”, it is not a roaring or explosive sound (at all), and it is not the type to look for a performance beyond the noise (never). The atmosphere is warm and vintage, but the glossiness without distortion or noise is wonderful, and Freddie’s voice that cuts through it is very strong, and the Japanese MC of “Good evening! How about it?” is clearly understood. The guitar and rhythm section are also powerful, but stable without overpeaking. Although it is not the peak, it is a masterpiece recording that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the performance. It is wonderful to have a night in Kobe depicted with such a sound. The whole album features fresh and passionate performances that only a first visit to Japan can provide, but the highlight is the part after “In The Lap Of The Gods…Revisited,” which was not heard on “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975.” The ending of “See What A Fool I’ve Been” and “God Save The Queen” is particularly moving. As mentioned above, the first half of “See What A Fool I’ve Been” is missing, but recording resumes in the second half of the song. When the song reaches its final ending, there is a break, and Freddie suddenly shouts, “We are so happy to be in Japan!” Although he is still unfamiliar with Japanese, his voice clearly savors every word. Freddie always expressed his gratitude in Japanese MCs, but I can’t think of a more realistic voice. This work goes beyond the level of “listening to the MC,” and the nuances of his voice can be vividly felt. It is a live album where Freddie’s message hits you right in the heart without even having to listen carefully. And Freddie sings the last verse, and this work reaches a grand finale of “God Save The Queen”. This final album is the real pleasure of the Kobe performance that could not be experienced even in “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975”. The hospitality of the first visit to Japan that is still talked about today. The performance filled with surprise, emotion and gratitude. And the MC. It is a wonderful document album that allows you to experience them on a full scale. To repeat, in terms of sound quality, “DEFINITIVE KOBE 1975” is undoubtedly the pinnacle. However, this work is a first visit to Japan album that shakes your heart in a dimension that goes beyond the mere battle for the top. 2019 marks the 44th spring since their first visit to Japan, and QUEEN is attracting more attention than ever before.
