Description

“JAZZ TOUR” which gave birth to “LIVE KILLERS” and “CRAZY TOUR” which is known for its excellent performance. A valuable live album that records the one and only show that existed in between is now available. That valuable show is “August 18, 1979 Saarbrücken Performance”. This is an audience recording from a performance at the West German music festival “SAARBRUCKEN OPEN AIR.” What was the relationship between this festival and the two tours? First, let’s check the position from the schedule at that time. ●1978 “JAZZ TOUR”・October 28th – December 20th: North America (35 performances)・1979・January 17th – March 1st: Europe (28 performances)・April 13th – May 6th: Japan (15 performances)《June 22nd “LIVE KILLERS” released》・August 18th: SAARBRUCKEN OPEN AIR appearance ←★This work★《October 5th: Single “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” released》 “CRAZY TOUR” November 22nd – December 26th: UK (20 performances) This is QUEEN from the “JAZZ TOUR” and “CRAZY TOUR” era. “LIVE KILLERS” was produced from the “Europe” leg in 1979, and the “JAZZ TOUR” ended with the Japan performance that followed. Then, at the end of the year, the “CRAZY TOUR” was held in conjunction with the single “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, but in between, there was only one festival appearance. Ten Years Later, Rory Gallagher, MOLLY HATCHET, THE COMMODORES and others performed at this festival, but QUEEN was the headliner. This work, which records such a show, has an overwhelming sense of realism. Although the existence of this recording has been known for some time, it has remained only among core collectors and has not been distributed to the general public. This extremely rare master, known only to those in the know, has finally been released to the public. I’m the type of person who prioritizes the value of honest stories, but that doesn’t mean they’re anything like roaring or explosive stories. The recording itself is very neat, and there is nothing that hurts the ears. However, unfortunately it is far away from the stage. For that reason, it absorbs the atmosphere of the venue to a large extent, and it is a type of recording that enjoys the mood more than the performance. However, the show that can be heard at such a scene is amazing. While the gist is based on “JAZZ TOUR,” there are hints of “CRAZY TOUR” here and there. First, the set. Let’s organize it while comparing it with “LIVE KILLERS” here. ●SHEER HEART ATTACK (2 songs)・Killer Queen/Now I’m Here ●A NIGHT AT THE OPERA (5 songs)・Death On Two Legs/I’m In Love With My Car/You’re My Best Friend/Love Of My Life/Bohemian Rhapsody ●A DAY AT THE RACES (2 songs)・Tie Your Mother Down・Songs that cannot be heard on “LIVE KILLERS”: Somebody To Love ●NEWS OF THE WORLD (6 songs)・We Will Rock You (fast )/Get Down Make Love/Spread Your Wings/Sheer Heart Attack/We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions ●JAZZ (3 songs)・Let Me Entertain You・Songs you can’t listen to on “LIVE KILLERS”: If You Can’t Beat Them/Mustapha ●Other (2 songs) – Keep Yourself Alive “QUEEN” – Songs that can’t be heard on “LIVE KILLERS”: Jailhouse Rock… and so on. A set of 4 songs that cannot be heard on “LIVE KILLERS”. “Somebody To Love”, “If You Can’t Beat Them”, and “Jailhouse Rock” were not selected for the official album, but there were days when they played them on tour, but the highlight was “Mustapha”. In “LIVE KILLERS”, he sang a little a cappella to introduce “Bohemian Rhapsody”, but here it was performed by the band for about 2 minutes (the audience was happy and said “Oh, it’s Mustapha”). It became the prototype after that. Freddie reminds me of “CRAZY TOUR” even more than that set! “CRAZY TOUR” is known for the fact that Freddie was in great shape every night, but this work is also comparable. I thought the ensemble would be awkward since it was a one-off show that wasn’t part of a tour, but it was actually the opposite. If the throat is in perfect condition and sharp, the singing will also improve. Perhaps inspired by Freddie, or perhaps just happy to be freed from studio work for the first time in three months, the band as a whole was in high spirits. Although this work is a live album that allows you to listen to QUEEN by bypassing the audience, it is also a sound that clearly shows how well it is doing. The full show alone is wonderful, but another highlight of this work is the last. As usual, it gets excited with “We Are The Champions” and ends with “God Save The Queen”, but for some reason there is a gap of about 1 minute here. Strange noises can be heard there, and one theory is that Roger destroyed the drum kit at this time. Actually, Roger was in a very bad mood that day. I tried to dye my hair blonde the day before, but it failed, and (for some reason) my hair is green. He himself said, “It was the most embarrassing experience of my life,” but his monitor also malfunctioned throughout the show. My frustration was building up and I burst out. Freddie, who is in top condition, barks and barks, and the sense of freedom that escapes the studio is also a wonderful great performance. This is a live album where you can experience a valuable show with real sound that is a little different from the world tour. Although it cannot be said to be suitable for beginners, it is an extremely rare and must-listen album that clearly conveys its irresistible charm for seasoned enthusiasts. ★Super rare and first appearance sound source! !
