Description

Following the lead single “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “THE GAME” reached its peak with the album “THE GAME” reaching No. 1 in the US. Among them, a scorching live album in which Freddie is at his best is now available. This work includes “Montreal performance on August 29, 1980”. This is a valuable audience recording. “THE GAME TOUR” lasted for one and a half years as it was at its peak, and the number of performances was the highest in QUEEN history. First, let’s check the show’s position in the schedule. ●1980《“THE GAME” released on June 30th》・June 30th-July 14th: North America #1 (14 performances)・August 5th-September 30th: North America #2 (35 performances) ←★Coco★・November 23rd-December 18th: Europe (17 performances) ●1981・February 12th-19th: Japan (6 performances)・February 28th-March 21st: Central and South America# 1 (7 performances) September 25th – October 18th: Latin America #2 (6 performances) November 24th + 25th: North America #3 (2 performances) ←★Official This is a panoramic view of the biggest tour. Speaking of the Montreal performance of “THE GAME TOUR”, the official work “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL” comes to mind first, but that was in 1981 and was the final stage of the tour. This work was a completely different performance, and was the 19th concert of the first half of the tour, “North America #2” (By the way, the Montreal performances on this tour were only three performances, this work and North America #3, and all the venues were “ (Montreal Forum). This work, which records a show that can be called the “1980 version of QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL,” is a truly scorching live album. After all, Freddy is on fire! From the beginning, the voice was in good condition, and it got more and more heated. From around “Get Down, Make Love” in the middle, things are going really well. Not only does the treble extend wonderfully, but each word is powerful, the shouts are crisp, and the free vibrato feels relaxed. Speaking of the soaring elation of “Save Me”… The sound that conveys such a passionate show is also hot. It’s not the type that touts things like “it’s like a soundboard” or “the best on tour”, but it’s actually a little wild. However, it is perfect for a powerful and passionate performance. The core, which has almost no sense of distance, approaches very closely, and the sharp edge details are truly vivid. At the beginning of the performance, there is a frenzy of excitement (it’s also hot!), but once it subsides, the powerful and clear performance of the heyday is vividly depicted. Although this work has a brilliant and powerful sound and great performances, it also has some major flaws. That’s an incomplete recording. There is no opening part, starting with “We Will Rock You (fast)” and ending with “Another One Bites The Dust”. Apparently, the recorder had brought in only one 72-minute tape, and it seems that he was recording using it in its entirety. For this reason, I stopped the tape not only at the beginning and end of the show, but also twice during the show, probably because I was worried about the amount of remaining power (the middle of “Get Down, Make Love” and the second half of “Keep Yourself Alive”/drum solo). Probably, when I arrived, I didn’t think it would be such a great show. The feelings of the recorder, who must have been worried about “I could stop here…” while witnessing the intense performance, becomes clear. It is a live album that makes you feel passionately even about that difficult decision. Of course, the lack of recording is a big drawback, but it does hold down some delicious points. The show held more than a year before “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL” had a different set, and included “Mustapha,” “Death On Two Legs,” “You’re My Best Friend,” “Need Your Loving Tonight,” and “Fat Bottomed Girls,” which could not be heard in the official version. ” is also included. In particular, “Need Your Loving Tonight”, which is only performed on this tour and may or may not be performed depending on the performance, is delicious. With this song, you can enjoy all the A-side songs of “THE GAME”. It’s hot anyway. The sound, the audience, the performance, and Freddie are all on fire. It’s a shame that it’s an incomplete recording, but it’s a scorching live album that you should definitely check out. How QUEEN was the darling of the times.
