Description
We will present you with a live album from the “December 14, 1978 Vancouver performance” from the Canadian dates. First, let’s briefly summarize the North American leg, which is the early part of “JAZZ TOUR.” ・October 28, 1978 – November 28, 1978: 21 performances in USA ・November 30, 1978: Performance in Ottawa, Canada ・December 1, 1978: Performance in Montreal, Canada [2CD] ・December 3 & 4, 1978: Performance in Toronto, Canada ・December 6-13, 1978: 5 performances in the USA ・December 14, 1978: Performance in Vancouver, Canada [this work] ・December 16-20, 1978: 4 performances in the USA In this way, The North American leg is going back and forth across the border, performing 34 performances in two and a half months (the official “LIVE KILLERS” is a compilation of the European leg from 1979). From the North American leg, “December 1st Montreal” and “December 7th Chicago”, which were made into 2CDs, were famous for their ultra-high sound quality. This work suddenly appeared at the end of 2006 and is a famous recording that suddenly became one of the big three alongside those famous recordings. The sound is extremely high quality and worthy of being called the “Big 3”. The phrase “just like a line recording” is overused, but it is so clear that it can only be said to be so. The outline of each instrument is not too strong, and the thickness is sufficient. I can’t think of any other way to describe it other than “like a line”. If it’s just the clarity, it can even surpass the 2CD “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1978”. However, even if the musical tone is “like a line,” it is still not a “line.” I was reminded of this by the loud cheers that filled the venue. Of course, it doesn’t interfere with the clear musical sound, but the sense of scale of “Pacific Coliseum” where more than 15,000 people gathered, the reality of the audience screaming with all their might during “Now I’m Here”… The feeling of being enveloped in the heat and atmosphere of the scene is something you can never experience with line recording. As a fate of cassette recording, there is a cut due to a tape change from the guitar solo to the jam in the middle of the show, but other than that, the sound is strangely stable, and the abnormally high sound quality continues from beginning to end. This North American leg is also a popular tour for high-tension performances, but perhaps because this is the final stage, Freddie Mercury’s voice seems tired on songs such as “Spread Your Wings” and “It’s Late.” In that respect, “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1978” may shine as the “throne of JAZZ TOUR”. However, this was also based on the “1978 North American leg standard”, and the performance was far more powerful than the one in Japan the following year, and the passionate singing was dazzling as they tried to cover up the lack of growth in their voices with enthusiasm. This is a live album where you can fully listen to the majestic performance of “QUEEN who conquered the earth”. “Another masterpiece” that you should know about now that the big decision board has appeared.
