Description

Superb soundboard album from the 70’s. A more natural version than the official version has been decided to be released. The famous item is the BBC Session, which is famous in rock history. Britain’s proud BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) was a pioneer in pioneering rock culture together with musicians in terms of broadcasting. With the rise of youth culture, various forms of broadcasting are being carried out to convey new sensibilities. “BBC IN CONCERT,” which broadcasts live shows as they are, “TOP OF THE POPS,” which mainly features lip syncing, and “THE OLD GRAY WHISTLE TEST,” which features live studio performances. Today, the archive has produced countless official works. Among these, something called “BBC SESSIONS” is unique. Although it is generally known as a live recording, it is not a recording of a normal stage concert. Only a few songs are played in one recording, and they are recorded in a studio without an audience, and there are also overdubs afterwards. Although the foundation is a live performance in which all members perform in concert, they don’t have to worry about the audience in front of them, so they can concentrate on the music. What’s more, they are also built-in (though it’s just a case-by-case basis). It is right in the middle between studio work and live work, and its individuality is considered special. And, there are a total of 6 BBC sessions left by QUEEN. This work is a superb album that records the last three episodes from 1974 to 1977. This is a good opportunity, so let’s organize the contents of this work by the recording dates of all sessions. ●“Dread Princess” era・Session 1: February 5, 1973・Session 2: July 25, 1973・Session 3: December 3, 1973 ●“Queen II” era・Session 4: April 1974 March 3rd [This work] ● “Sheer Heart Attack” era/Session 5: October 16, 1974 [This work] ● “Dedicated to the World” era/Session 6: October 28, 1977 [This work ] This is QUEEN’s BBC session. In fact, all of this has been formalized as “ON AIR”, but of course this work is different. It was released in 2009 by a person who owns the master reel for broadcasting, and was digitized directly from the reel. The introductory MC of Bob Harris, which was deleted in “ON AIR”, is also recorded uncut. The real voice of a legendary DJ is valuable, but even more important is the sound. The official version “ON AIR” had modern mastering to increase the sound pressure, but this work has an unprocessed natural sound. In fact, this is completely different. Although the official version has a dynamic finish, the peaks are flat and the notes disappear without any subtlety. However, this work has no such action at all. Although it doesn’t have the extreme dynamism of a roller coaster, the rise of each note is sharp, creating a beautiful mountain, and the delicate vibe remains beautifully until the moment it disappears. This natural feel is exquisite. Even when the volume is turned up, it doesn’t pierce your ears; the piano gives you the feeling of being played right in front of your eyes, and the trembling strings of the guitar come to mind. Please pay particular attention to the sound of the cymbals. The core is so lustrous that it almost gives off a metallic luster, while still producing a delicate ringing sound. When I listened to it with ears accustomed to the official version, I was surprised to find that the weak sound was left in such detail that I wondered if it had been playing for this long. Furthermore, the chorus. Since it is a BBC session, the chorus work is also incorporated with overdubs, and the delicate intertwining is natural and beautiful in detail. When it comes to the official release of a big name like QUEEN, it has to be made for everyone. There are probably many people who heard it for the first time yesterday, and in stores it is on par with contemporary rock works. The official work “ON AIR” certainly had a sound that met those needs. However, the actual sound that QUEEN was playing and the vibe that evoked the atmosphere of the 70’s were completely different. It was richer and richer. This is the “real sound” that Master Reel was breathing in. This is a super-excellent album that has been digitized in its entirety. A BBC session that depicts a beautiful world that approaches the official studio work while retaining the dynamism of live music. Its real.
