Description

A world tour in full swing began with the release of the blockbuster hit “THE GAME.” A live album that marked that start dash is now available. This work includes “July 6, 1980 Phoenix Performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording. This tour is at its peak. The single “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” released the previous year reached number one in the US in February, and “THE GAME”, which was released on the strength of that momentum, also became a huge hit. Furthermore, in the middle of the tour, the single “Another One Bites the Dust” reached number one in the United States, and by the end of the tour, even “GREATEST HITS” was a hit…it was a tour that was on fire with hit after hit. First, let’s check the show’s position in that golden age. ●1980《“THE GAME” released on June 30th》・June 30th – July 14th: North America #1 (14 performances) ←★Coco★・August 5th – September 30th: North America #2 (35 performances)《“FLASH GORDON” released on December 8th》・November 23rd – December 18th: Europe (17 performances) ●1981, February 12th-19th: Japan (6 performances), February 28th-March 21st: Latin America #1 (7 performances), September 25th-October 18th: Latin America #2 ( 6 performances)《“GREATEST HITS” released on October 26th》・November 24th + 25th: Montreal (2 performances) This is “THE GAME TOUR” 1980-1981” overall picture. The Phoenix performance of this work is the 5th performance of “North America #1″ in the beginning. This is the oldest record for “THE GAME TOUR,” and the concert was held one week after the album was released. The single “Another One Bites the Dust” reached number one in the United States in October 1980, so the golden age that had just begun was in the midst of an upswing. This work that recorded such a show is a truly wonderful vintage audience. The recording itself has long been known among core collectors, but this work is a new master that was recently discovered, and the clarity is overwhelming. “Compton Terrace”, where the scene took place, is a now defunct outdoor theater. Since there are no walls or ceilings to reflect sound, the output sound from the PA reaches you without any clouding, and the details are picked up directly and vividly. Although the sound cannot be expected to be beautiful, its core is frighteningly active and sharp, and the singing voice is clear not only in each word of the lyrics but also in the nuances of each syllable. Of course, the guitar/bass/drums are neatly separated without being mixed in at all, and even the little synth sound effects are vivid, even the dynamics. It is a super clear sound that makes you think it is an AM broadcast. This work is a new master that has been further refined with careful remastering. Of course, we did not try to increase the sound pressure pointlessly, but rather maintained the balance. In fact, in the original sound, the left channel was dropping high. By adjusting this, we were able to faithfully reproduce the more natural sound that would have reached the audience at the venue. The show drawn with that crystal clear sound is even hotter! The tour has only just begun, and it seems like they haven’t reached the peak of “whatever I do, it’s going well,” but they have plenty of momentum to climb up that hill at breakneck speed. Freddie is also in great condition and is in high spirits. Although the momentum is on the verge of breaking out, it is not going that far because they are not used to the new stage yet…It is a show that is at a standstill. And the set is delicious because it is the beginning of the tour. There are songs like “Mustapha / Death On Two Legs” and “You’re My Best Friend” that you can’t hear on “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL,” but the best songs are “Need Your Loving Tonight” and “Rock It (Prime Jive).” . Both are numbers that symbolize the early 1980s, but “Rock It (Prime Jive)” is especially valuable because it was played at the first few performances and then disappeared until the 1981 Japan performance. Of course, this work is the oldest recording of “THE GAME TOUR”, so these two songs and “Play The Game (the piano intro is also interesting)” are the earliest versions. It seems like there are a lot of interesting points, but unfortunately it’s only about an hour long. It seems that it was recorded with one 54-minute tape, and the recording ends with the intro of “Love of my Life” at the end of the main set. As the content is amazing, let’s move on to the highlights and then the roaring encore! It’s a shame that it ended just when things were getting so exciting… Unfortunately, only one recording of this show has been discovered, and it will probably never be possible to listen to it again. Although it’s hard to do anything about how short it is, the real thrill of being able to fully experience the entrance to the Golden Age for about an hour is priceless. It also has one of the best real sounds on tour. Although it’s a bit maniacal, it’s a piece that you can’t miss if you’re a maniac. ★5th performance of the 1980 “Game Tour”. This is the earliest valuable sound source in existence. The sound quality is also good. Live at Compton Terrace, Phoenix, AZ, USA 6th July 1980 TRULY AMAZING SOUND (54:14) 1. Intro 2.
