Description
Roadhouse Garden is a phantom unreleased album from the golden age of The Revolution, from Purple Rain to before Sign of the Times. Although it was announced on Prince’s website on October 7, 1998, it was never released until the end. This time, a title that perfectly reproduces Roadhouse Garden is released. The first song is Our Destiny, which has two versions by Jill Jones and Lisa Coleman, but of course it starts with the version with Lisa’s vocals, and continues with the album title song Roadhouse Garden. The third song is Splash, which is said to be a message from Prince to The Revolution to get back together, but there are also two versions, and the version used is the NPG Music Club version that Prince recorded for the album around 1998. Then Empty Room is the highly polished version 2, and the last is the unreleased song Go, which urges The Revolution to break up, saying “Leave me brokenhearted and you go away,” and the finale is a total of nine songs. The songs are edited to make the flow between them smoother, and the album is very well-made. Also included as outtakes are different versions of some of the songs on this album. Our Destiny, with its rare backing and different vocals by Jill Jones, is edited to connect neatly to Roadhouse Garden. You can hear the difference in the singing style of the two Prince girlfriends, Jill’s confident vocals and Lisa’s chorus-like vocals. The album ends with the original version of Splash, a version of Empty Room that seems to have been made in 1985, a long version of a different arrangement of Wonderful Ass and its edit, and a recording of Go’s rehearsal at The Revolution in Nice. This is a must-have title that thoroughly explores the phantom Roadhouse Garden. 1.Our Destiny (Lisa Vocal) (Purple Rain Deluxe Expanded Edition Version) 2:52 2.Roadhouse Garden (Purple Rain Deluxe Version) 3:28 3.Splash (NPG MC Version) 3:58 4.Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1) 3:59 5.All My Dreams (Sigh O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition Version) 7:19 6 .In A Large Room With No Light (Sigh O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition Version) 3:20 7.Empty Room #2 3:19 Paisley Park March 18, 1995 8.Wonderful Ass (Purple Rain Deluxe Expanded Edition Version) 6:19 9.Go #2 4:47 Sunset Sound January 14, 1986 Outtakes 10.Our Destiny (Jill Jones Vocal) 3:12 11.Roadhouse Garden 3:28 12.Splash (1985 Version) 3:58 Washington Avenue Warehouse & Sunset Sound August 1, 1985 to July 13, 1986 13.Empty Room #1 2:00 Washington Avenue Warehouse August 3 into 4, 1985 + Sunset Sound September 1985 2:00 14.Wonderful Ass (Long Version) 1 0:05 15.Wonderful Ass (Edit of Long Version) 6:20 Sunset Sound March 28, 1986 16.Go (Rehersal) Theater Du Verdure, Nice, France October 27, 1985
