Description
This is the ultimate 4CD+2DVD release, which combines a DVD compilation of all professional shots, centered on the two famous London performances from Prince’s 1992 Diamonds and Pearls tour, and a live compilation CD (some from 1991). First, the footage from Earl’s Court, London on June 15, 1992, is a professional shot, but there is some noise from the master. Still, it is recorded from the best existing master. I feel that the camerawork is a little more professional than the June 24th one, which I will introduce later. Also, the colors are more vivid here. First of all, the contrast between Prince’s appearance scene in Thunder, Mayte’s dance, and Prince’s singing and guitar is wonderful. The group dance in Daddy Pop, Prince’s dance is solid and amazing. Even Michael Jackson would be jealous. Let’s Go Crazy and Kiss are in full swing. Then Jughead’s dance, and Purple Rain, which is well performed. Furthermore, the musical communication between Prince and the audience at Live 4 Love, Sonny T’s bass solo here is cool. From Rosie’s vocals in Lively Up Yourself to Willing And Able, Prince’s dancing and broken singing style are exciting. The jazziness continues with Damn U, and then a complete change, Sexy MF, a new song whose title leaves the audience dumbfounded, and the Arabic version of Theives In The Temple, a mashup with It, features Prince’s amazing screams. Unfortunately, it cuts off in the middle of Insatiable. The reality is that there is only incomplete footage of the D&P tour. However, DVD1 contains some gems related to the 1992 D&P tour. First, a super clear performance in Japan for just under a minute. Then there is a rare performance of Dr. Feelgood on April 18th, a wonderful video of just under six minutes of Rosie Gaines’ outstanding vocals and Prince’s bluesy guitar intersecting. The Sydney performance in April, whose date is unknown, has good sound, excellent camera work, and almost no image distortion. You can enjoy the highlight of the live performance, Live 4 Love, for just under 7 minutes. And it contains a fairly clear video of Daddy Pop and a 3.5 minute fragment of Live 4 Love from the Belgian performance. And CD1 and CD2 are the audio of the video of Earl’s Court on June 15th, and the sound quality has been greatly improved with the wonderful remastering. And the beginning of Jughead has been corrected from the performance on June 24th. There are some parts where the noise cannot be removed. And as for the audience recording, the incomplete recording of the performance on the 15th has been corrected, so that it can be heard almost completely. The upper performance of 1999, Baby I’m A Star with Push, is a development only for this tour, but there is Prince singing My Name Is Prince. It’s a spectacular jam. All the other audio that was in the video has been ripped and recorded. Now back to the footage, DVD2, another D&P London, pro shot footage June 24th, the image quality is better than the first day on the 15th, the camera work is a little simpler. The first half of the wonderful dance will be very enjoyable to watch compared to the 15th. Some of the images are distorted due to the tape of the master video, but it is still the best master in existence. In Jughead, the final jump by the dancer Game Boys invites laughs, but I always notice that this is a popular joke. Live 4 Love is one of the highlights of this tour, but Tony M, who desperately raps while being pointed at with a gun, is also the same joke, but the dance is always sharp. And Prince’s double guitar, which overlaps with the sub Levi Seesaa Jr. who played a solo earlier, is particularly thrilling here. Rosie Gaines sings Bob Marley’s Lively Up Yourself, with a jazzy Willing And Able in the background, which is mashed up to become the intro, and Delirious, which was not on the setlist on the 15th, is played, but Willing And Able is only played in the second half, with Rosie and Tony’s parts being shown. Interlude, Prince’s narration builds up the excitement, followed by Damn U, a mellow ballad, and the cool Sexy MF, where Mick Jagger is here! Prince coolly murmurs, “Mick Jager in the building.” In the Arabic version of Thieves In The Temple, where young Mayte dances, Prince, wearing the chain-dripping hat from the My Name Is Prince PV, sings It and strums his acoustic guitar in a funky way. The flow from Michael B’s drums to Insatiable is wonderful, and Mayte’s graceful dance and Prince’s vocal work are wonderful. Prince’s skin is skillfully shown. There is Prince licking the camera. The magnificent Gett Off is a completely 18+ world. The Flow, with Tony M wrapping with Horny Pony backing, has already performed songs from the next album here. And Prince’s MC of Diamond and Pearl Dance, Game Boys Dance, Pimp (womanizer) being sandwiched (by a woman) is hilarious. After Tony M’s stirring up, “Do you want to go home?”, Prince also starts saying he’s going home now. In fact, Prince and the others retreat and don’t come out, but after asking the audience several times, “What’s my name?”, he says, “This is the cream (climax) of tonight’s show!” and performs Cream. Then Rosie comes out and does a spectacular Aretha Franklin cover. The end is Prince’s fearless laugh. Unfortunately, it is played after this, but it is incomplete. And the performance at the Special Olympics held at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. It’s the highest quality video, better than YouTube. From Diamonds And Pearls, it makes you think that Let’s Go Crazy is being played, and then Baby I’m A Star. Push is also playing, and this video makes up for the encore parts that were not recorded in the two London performances. And rare interviews and rehearsal footage are also recorded in high quality. In 1991, Prince’s performance on MTV of Gett Off, famous for his butt-showing dance. This naughty world is a bewitchingness that was not even shown on the tour. And CD3 and CD4 are the audio parts of London on June 24th. It has been wonderfully remastered. And Nothing Compares 2 U, woven by Rosie and Prince at Paisley Park in 1992, is recorded on the soundboard (no video), and the Special Olympics and MTV Video Music Awards are also recorded with solid audio.
