Description
This is the best sound quality ever recorded for Prince’s first album, featuring 8 three-piece instrumental tracks by Prince, Andre Simone, and Bobby Z, recorded at Rolling Park by Owen Husney, the driving force behind the release of Prince’s first album. The sound is truly astonishing. And to be honest, the sound being tried out here is full of early Minneapolis funk ideas, which can be said to be the hidden Prince For You. A major feature of early Prince is the use of synths. The reason why Prince’s guitar-based style is different from his current style is probably because he was looking to the future with the rise of synths in mind. And it’s very interesting that horns are not used, which is rare for black music from the 70s, and this means that the first album actually featured keyboards heavily, and that they were already being done here. It means that Prince’s unique sound was already there from the very beginning, when he was young. The clear sound outlines the studio line sound, and the wonderful remastering makes it so realistic that you will feel as if they are playing right in front of you. You can almost see Prince’s finger movements. It’s only when you listen to this that you understand the genius of Prince.
