Description
THE POLICE was in the early summer of 1983, when their masterpiece “SYNCHRONICITY” reached number one on the US and UK charts, and they were about to embark on a tour that would take the world by storm. Introducing the finest stereo soundboard album containing the tour rehearsal just before that. [Superb stereo sound board recording] This work was recorded on “Lititz, July 22, 1983”. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the tour rehearsal held at “Wheater Street Studio”. The first day of “SYNCHRONICITY TOUR” is the Chicago performance on July 23rd, and this work is the day before that. It is a studio live album where you can enjoy the final rehearsal just before the tour starts for about 76 minutes. This rehearsal has been known for a long time because the sound board was left behind, but this work is the complete version. Of course, not only the length but also the quality is the highest. What pops out when you play it is a close-up sound directly connected to the mix table that overwhelms you with a fiercely direct feeling. It’s different from a concert soundboard, which takes into account the adjustment of the sound and the production of the show, and the core is exposed. You can feel the vibrating strings of the guitar and bass, and each drum beat is panned to the extreme stereo width. Of course, the vocals have an intensely direct feel, as if a plug was stuck into her head, as if her entire head had become the head of a microphone. Even the minute noise leaking from the amplifier is ultra-realistic, and you can experience an immersive feeling that is better described as “having a studio in your head” than “sitting in the studio” (only the last two tracks are different). This is a take from the source “THREE GHOSTS”, and the sound quality is slightly degraded). [Studio live the day before the actual tour] The rehearsal depicted with that sound is already the best. Even if you say “tour rehearsal” in one word, it can range from practicing to memorize new songs to general production just like a real performance, but this work is the latter. As mentioned above, each song was completely memorized because of the rehearsal the day before the first day. This is the stage where you check the flow of the actual performance and the detailed production. There are also takes where “King Of Pain” and “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” stop in the middle, but even so, it feels like they were checking the timing and tone rather than saying it was a mistake. In addition to those two songs, there are songs such as “Walking In Your Footsteps” and “Hole In My Life” that have stopped recording and are not complete, but basically you can enjoy a very complete live performance throughout. However, it is a bit different to say that it was a big performance just like a real performance. Although there is nothing suspicious about the performance, Sting’s singing voice is relaxed and it is just a confirmation. Although the melody is followed closely, it doesn’t feel like a passionate performance. On the other hand, the relaxing feeling is delicious between songs. In between each song, there are also recorded conversations with the three members and the engineer, giving you a private feel that can only be experienced during rehearsals. Now, let’s organize the sets that will be played at rehearsals. ●OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR (1 song)・Hole In My Life ●REGGATTA DE BLANC (2 songs)・Message In A Bottle, Walking On The Moon ●ZENYATTA MONDATTA (2 songs)・Don’t Stand So Close to Me, De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da●GHOST IN THE MACHINE (2 songs)・One World (Not Three), Spirits In The Material World ●SYNCHRONICITY (7 songs)・King of Pain, Synchronicity I, Synchronicity II, Walking In Your Footsteps, O My God, Wrapped Around Your Finger, Tea In The Sahara… and so on. While including representative songs from all of his works before “SYNCHRONICITY”, there are 7 songs from “SYNCHRONICITY”. It is a piece that allows you to enjoy that wonderful “SYNCHRONICITY TOUR” in the studio live. The famous album “SYNCHRONICITY”, which was THE POLICE’s ultimate goal, and its tour. In between, it is a masterpiece that allows you to enjoy live performances that are different from studio works and stage live performances on a directly connected stereo sound board. This is an excellent piece as a different version of a famous album, a studio live album, and of course a hidden treasure that lets you peek behind the scenes.
