Description

THE POLICE in 1983, who became the darling of the era along with their masterpiece “SYNCHRONICITY”. A soundboard album that pours the live performance of the climax into your brain has appeared. This work is engraved with the “Montreal performance on August 2, 1983”. It is a stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of the “SYNCHRONICITY Tour”, the Atlanta performance, which became the official work “LIVE!” and “SYNCHRONICITY CONCERT”, is a symbol, but the time is slightly different from this work. First of all, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the whole world tour and imagine the position of the show from the positional relationship of each. 1983 {June 1st release of “SYNCHRONICITY”} ・July 23rd – September 11th: North America #1 (31 performances) ←★Here★ ・September 17th – October 14th: Europe (18 performances) ・October 28th – November 28th: North America #2 (21 performances) ←※Official ・December 8th – 31st: UK (16 performances) 1984 ・January 30th + 31st: Italy (2 performances) ・February 4th – 25th: North America #3 (14 performances) ・February 29th – March 4th: Oceania (3 performances) {THE POLICE stopped activities} This is THE POLICE in 1983/1984. They went back and forth between North America and Europe while traveling back and forth across the ocean. The official Atlanta performance was “North America #2”, but this Montreal performance was three months earlier. It was the seventh concert of “North America #1”. It is said that Sting decided to disband THE POLICE at this “North America #1” “Shea Stadium” performance (you can enjoy it in SHEA STADIUM 1983), but this work was about two weeks before that. Such shows are known for being broadcast on TV, and are a staple that has produced many existing groups. This work is the audio soundboard. There are various masters for standard footage, with different recordings, different generations, and different routes, but this work is made into a CD from what is considered to be the best in terms of sound. Interviews were inserted in various places on TV broadcasts, but in this work, such scenes have been neatly deleted. It is finished so that it can be enjoyed as a music album. In fact, this work is such a magnificent live album that it is hard to believe that the original was a TV broadcast. Usually, TV broadcasts in the 1980s were mostly mono, and it is natural that air check tapes have reception noise and tape deterioration. Even if you can watch the video, it is not uncommon to be harsh if you concentrate only on the sound. However, this work has a wonderful stereo feeling and there is no deterioration or instability at all. It’s just beautiful and lustrous, and as fresh as the original recording of an FM broadcast. I don’t know if it was recorded with just audio, or if there were scratches on the video track, but it’s a superb sound that makes sense as it was distributed as a live album rather than a video. This beautiful soundboard depicts a set that condenses the essence of the glorious “SYNCHRONICITY Tour”. Let’s organize it here by comparing it with DISC 2 of the official album “LIVE!” (Atlanta, 1983). Synchronicity (7 songs) ・Synchronicity I / Synchronicity II / Walking In Your Footsteps / Wrapped Around Your Finger / Tea In The Sahara / Every Breath You Take / King Of Pai Others (6 songs + α) ・Outlands d’Amour: Hole in My Life (★) / Roxanne / So Lonely / Can’t Stand Losin’ You (incl. Reggatta de Blanc) ・Others: Message In A Bottle / Spirits In The Material World *Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that could not be heard at the Atlanta performance of “LIVE!” … and so on. The content that follows the approximately 64-minute broadcast frame is far from a full show, but within that condensed time, “SYNCHRONICITY” numbers and classics are packed in about half and half. More important than such a set is the performance itself. As mentioned above, the Montreal performance of this work is the seventh performance at the beginning of the tour. Even bands that are good at live performances tend to become tense and stiff at the start of a tour, and generally show their true potential from around the fifth performance. The seventh performance is the best time when there is no fatigue from the tour and the engine is just starting to go full throttle. Moreover, it was before the “Shea Stadium” performance where they decided to disband. They were approaching the top of their career, but they were still on the rise. It was truly the best moment in history that will never be repeated. The sound board sound is so magnificent that even the best multi-camera footage seems to be a hindrance. This is a masterpiece of a live album born from that best master. A live performance just before the historic climax. A stereo sound board recording of the “Montreal performance on August 2, 1983”. Although it is a TV broadcast audio track, the sound finished from the best master is superb. The stereo feeling is also splendid, and it is simply beautiful and lustrous, just like the master recording of FM broadcast. The interviews have been neatly edited and deleted, and the live album is of the highest quality. You can enjoy the last uphill stage of the glorious SYNCHRONICITY Tour, when they had not yet decided to disband. Le Spectrum, Montreal, QC, Canada 2nd August 1983 STEREO SBD(UPGRADE) (64:24) 1.
