Description
The world’s best sound album is here. The sound is the famous album “WISH YOU WERE HERE” and “ANIMALS”. The set includes the first Japanese press CDs (Matrix “35DP 4” and “2DP-360 11”), which were the first CDs in the world. It comes in a two-disc set. Music that attracts people’s hearts is something that requires the highest level of beauty. The more wonderful the song and the more brilliant the performance, the more you want to feel that light as beautifully as possible. You want to experience the beauty of the limit… This can be said to be a human instinct that feels “beauty” in the vibrations of the air. Of course, rock is no exception. Maniacs from all over the world have been searching for the “best sound experience” by gathering famous albums from all media in all countries and exploring the peak. This work is “one answer” that the journey of exploration that has been carried out with “WISH YOU WERE HERE” and “ANIMALS” has reached. As a result of the journey of exploration, two “answers” were found. One is the original British Harvest LP (the best condition one). The other is the first CD produced by CBS Sony Japan in the 1980s. This was not decided by our store. It was the consensus of the world’s top enthusiasts. For example, the famous engineer Steve Hoffman’s message board is a place where sound experts and enthusiasts with strong preferences gather, and it is the result of repeated discussions in such places. Of course, it makes sense that the original British LP produced from the original master is great. What is sent to other countries is a copy master, and the source is different even before cutting (in fact, the Japanese LP “ANIMALS” could not be the top). But then, why did the Japanese version become the top in CDs? There are still mysteries, but the main factor is (it is said) the timing. For example, as I mentioned in “WISH YOU WERE HERE,” Japan was the first country in the world to make CDs. It was on October 1, 1982. The world’s first CD player was released by a major Japanese manufacturer, and the world’s first music CD was also released on the same day. There were about dozens of titles, mainly rock, pop, and classical music, one of which was “WISH YOU WERE HERE”. This first press CD was characterized by a “blue cap band” and gold board, but the production period was short and in 1985 it was switched to a second press (red cap band “32DP 359”) with a different mastering. The first press CD with the “blue cap band” became a phantom item that rarely appears on the second-hand market, and now it has become so rare that it is traded at auctions for tens of thousands of yen. I digress, but the first press CD was digitally transferred independently in Japan, and the youngest generation or the original master tape itself was used at that time. Moreover, the CD was produced in a flat transfer state without compression, very similar to the production process of analog records. This means that it is the only CD where you can listen to the pure sound of the master tape itself in its unprocessed form. Moreover, even if you wanted to do the same thing in modern times, you can never do it again. “WISH YOU WERE HERE” was first released on CD in 1982, and “ANIMALS” in 1985. Only 7-8 years have passed since the original release, and the original master has not been exposed to the test of time. Since it was digitized at that point, the “sound” and “beauty” that would have disappeared from the original master now that more than 40 years have passed have been left behind. The sound of the first press CD of the Japanese version is certainly supreme. This is obvious when compared to the current remastered CD. In fact, the first thing you notice is the modest volume, but this is also evidence that no sound pressure processing with compressors or limiters has been applied. And above all, the natural sound is wonderful. The current remastered CD is also excellent, but there is a sense of artificiality in the three-dimensional effect. This may be easier to understand in modest performances than in parts that go back and forth between the stereo in a flashy way. For example, the intro of “Dogs”. Behind the acoustic guitar cutting, a small synth sounds, but this can be heard separately. Both the synth and the guitar have their own peaks that look like they have been pulled up with tweezers, which creates a three-dimensional effect. In contrast, the Japanese first press CD has the acoustic guitar and synth synchronized to create a three-dimensional effect of large swells. I think the current CD is well made down to the smallest details, but it is not enough to see the forest for the trees. In an attempt to make it more dynamic, each tree is drawn too strongly, resulting in an unnatural forest. The Japanese first press CD has each tree drawn in detail, but the overall picture that they create as a whole is also beautiful. The scene that Floyd originally tried to create is naturally conveyed. Of course, these differences can be felt in every scene. The Japanese first press CD leaves the subtle sounds beautiful as they are, while the current CD shows the intention to “let you hear sounds that you didn’t notice before.” The Japanese first press CD leaves the long guitar notes beautifully vibed until the moment they disappear, but the current remastered CD sounds like it is trying to pull up the faded master guitar sounds and shape them. This natural “sound” and “beauty” as envisioned by Floyd himself only remains in “WISH YOU WERE HERE” with its “blue cap” and “ANIMALS” with the catalog number “2DP-360” plus “11”. The supreme “WISH YOU WERE HERE” and “ANIMALS” that maniacs around the world have searched for and found. A two-disc set with the “answer” recognized by the world. A cultural heritage that can be called the Holy Grail of rock. 1982 First Japanese CD Pressing (35DP 4) 1985 First Japanese CD Pressing (32DP-360 11) WISH YOU WERE HERE (44:15) 1982 First Japanese CD Pressing (35DP 4) 1.
