Description
BBC, the prestigious music broadcasting station that has been accompanying the birth and development of British rock. A masterpiece series that completes the PINK FLOYD collection with official transcendent quality has been born! This work is the first part. From their first appearance “The Look Of The Week (recorded on May 14, 1967)” to “Sounds of the 70s (recorded on September 30, 1971)”, it is a 4-disc set that completely records 13 sound sources over a period of about 3 hours and 59 minutes. Speaking of their BBC collection, it was made quite official with the box “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972”, but unfortunately the official collection was not a complete collection, and there were many problems in terms of quality. The sound that boosted the bass to earn sound pressure was far from the FLOYD sound of the time, and even if the BBC master recordings were supplemented with air checks to replace the lost takes, the selection was old and shoddy bootlegs. The deeper the collector, the more undeniable the feeling of “This is not good”. This work is a super-decisive board that will relieve the frustration of such core collectors. Not only does it surpass the official in both quality and quantity, but it also includes newly discovered masters that are being released for the first time in Japan, making it the ultimate set that updates the highest peak. The key to this is the “Prof. Stoned” collection, which was recently released. The sound is as expected, and it has the best existing masters, and the digitalization is also natural-oriented. It is not just plain, but the vocals come out and are extremely easy to listen to. There is even a master that has updated the highest peak for the first time. However, the “Prof. Stoned” collection was not perfect. This work thoroughly complements the “I’m sorry!” points of the famous collection that collectors around the world are delighted with. It is finished in the ultimate specification possible. How high is the “height” that this work can reach? Let’s introduce each disc individually. DISC 1: The Syd era where new discoveries shine (+2) First up is a disc featuring the Syd Barrett era. All five sessions from the first “May 14, 1967” to “December 20, 1967” are recorded in full, and even the “March 26, 1968 “Sound Of Change” session” and “March 28, 1968 “Omnibus: All My Loving” session after Syd’s departure are recorded. The point here is that there are a lot of first-time masters. Many of the 1960s sessions have lost BBC transcriptions, so we have no choice but to rely on the records at the time of broadcast. Up until now, the better ones have been selected from the poor sounding air checks, but in this work, seven off-air masters have appeared for the first time. The seven songs are “See Emily Play” from “Top Of The Pops” on July 6, 1967, “The Gnome” and “Matilda Mother” from “Top Gear” on September 25, and four songs from “Top Gear” on December 20: “Vegetable Man”, “Scream Thy Last Scream”, “Jugband Blues” and “Pow R. Toc H.” In particular, the two songs from “Top Gear” on September 25 were created from the first gene reel recorded by the late journalist/promoter Jeff Harden. This is a new discovery that can only be called a hidden treasure. DISC 2: Four sessions from the “More” and “Umaguma” eras DISC 2 after Syd left is also well done. Three newly excavated masters (“Baby Blue Shuffle In D Major” and “Interstellar Overdrive” recorded on December 2, 1968 and “Moonhead” recorded on July 20, 1969) are also included, and all the songs exceed the official “THE EARLY YEARS”. Even if the master is the same as the official one, it has been transferred again to create a natural sound. Moreover, from around this time, the number of sessions for which BBC transcription discs remain has increased, making it much more enjoyable to listen to. This can also be said for DISC 1, but what I have talked about so far is the “Prof. Stoned” collection. This work has been further enhanced. The sessions, which were out of order, have been neatly arranged in the order of broadcast, and the DJ comments between songs have been reproduced with a different sound source. For example, on DISC 2, John Peel’s intro comment is patched into the first track, and the comments from the first broadcast are inserted afterwards. The finish is so smooth and beautiful that it is hard to believe it is a patch, and it accurately revives the BBC broadcast, which is rock history itself. DISC 3: “Paris Theater” from the “Atom Heart Mother” era From here on, it’s not a BBC session, but a concert live. DISC 3 is “IN CONCERT” recorded at “Paris Theater on July 16, 1970”. It is a classic sound source that has been loved by various existing groups, including our “BBC 1970/1971 (Sigma 204)”, but of course this work is not a reuse of existing releases. As with DISC 1-2, the master of the “Prof. Stoned” collection is used. In addition, the highest peak version with strict pitch correction and gap noise between tracks is permanently preserved. DISC 4: “Paris Theater (mono version)” from the “Meddle” era Finally, along with DISC 3, the broadcast sound board of the “Paris Theater on September 30, 1971”, which is familiar from “BBC 1970/1971”. This broadcast is known in two versions, “mono version” and “stereo version”, but here it is recorded in the mono “Sounds of the 70s” version (please enjoy the stereo version on “VOL.2” released at the same time). This is not just mono. It is often thought that this broadcast was broadcast in stereo MIX and mono MIX of the same recording, but in fact the recording itself is different. Stereo broadcasting was also widespread in the United States and other countries in the early 1970s, but BBC was still based on mono. Therefore, when BBC recorded live performances, it was often recorded in two groups, a “stereo group” for overseas and a “mono group” for home broadcast. The recording of the “stereo group” was mixed in the editing room at a later date, and a transcription disc was produced. It follows the well-known process of being distributed to each country, but the latter “mono group” is different. It was mixed on the spot and broadcast within two weeks. No disc was produced, and it was completed on tape. The mono version of this work was also digitized from the 2nd generation tape left at BBC. This is the first part of a 4-room set of two sets that completes all the BBC sound sources left by PINK FLOYD. This work alone allows you to collect a total of 3 hours, 58 minutes, and 46 seconds of treasures with a natural sound that exceeds the official “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972”. PINK FLOYD’s rapid evolution from the Syd Barrett era to “Meddle”. A complete collection of soundboards left by the prestigious BBC. Of the two consecutive works, this is the first part that completely covers the BBC broadcast sound sources from the Syd Barrett era to the “Meddle” era. This is the ultimate absolute set that is based on the official transcendent “Prof. Stoned” master and has been further enhanced with fine complements.
