Description
The outtake collection of “WISH YOU WERE HERE” and “ANIMALS” that suddenly appeared in early 2014, two years ago, has been revived in ultimate quality. For some reason, the shocking appearance was an LP titled “FROM ABBEY ROAD TO BRITTANIA ROW – THE EXTRACTION TAPES” at an overseas auction. The PINK FLOYD version of the original LP was repaired as much as possible and released on CD as “WISH YOU WERE HERE OUTTAKES” and “ANIMALS OUTTAKES.” It became a very popular title that sold out in an instant. After that, a major cassette sound source also appeared, but this work is a remaster of that cassette sound source by overseas core enthusiasts. Of course, since the source is Oomoto cassette, it is like a sound that exceeds the previous release, but the remastering that has been done is amazing. It’s not a simple thing like a little equalization, but it carefully removes noise one by one (manually!) and doesn’t miss even a gap of just 0.025 seconds or distortion of 0.2dB. If one channel is down even for a moment, supplement it by adding it to the other channel. The maniac who worked on it said, “If you listen to it with headphones, you’ll understand the restoration,” but no matter how you listen to it, it’s an amazing workmanship that seems like excessive humility. Of course, since he is a maniac who spares no effort, he also has a deep understanding of music. No unnecessary equalization was done to destroy the original sound of the original cassette. The outtakes revived with such perfect specifications are basically the same as “WISH YOU WERE HERE OUTTAKES” and “ANIMALS OUTTAKES”. I say “basically” because the two previously released CDs are based on the LP, so they do not contain any takes added during the production process of “original cassette → LP”. There are two takes: “Wish You Were Here (with Stephane Grappelli)” and “Pigs On The Wing Parts 1&2 (Extended Version)”. The former is the same take as the official CD “IMMERSION BOX”, and the latter is the same take as Snowy White’s compilation album “GOLD TOP”. The creator of the LP probably added it with the idea of “different takes of all the songs on the album,” and the previously released CD was also included to deliver the shocking LP with the best sound, but the theme this time is not the LP but the original. cassette version. There is no other excavation take. Although it is not a replacement, it includes the album commercial that was broadcast on the radio when “ANIMALS” was released in 1977. This work starts with “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-8)”. When “WISH YOU WERE HERE OUTTAKES” appeared, it became a hot topic that the masterpiece, which was divided into two parts on the official album, could be listened to all at once, just like on the 1974 UK tour, but this time, the ultimate sound version. is. The moment when “Part 5” leads to “Part 6” without Dick Parry’s saxophone or wind SE, uncut. That emotion will be revived even more vividly and in a perfect form. Of course, each part is at a different stage of work than the official album. “Part 1” includes a fragment of the failed “HOUSEHOLD PROJECT” in the intro. “Part 2” is Dave Gilmore’s guitar solo where the phrase becomes completely different from the middle. The official funk-style jam session fades out, “Part 8” ends without connecting to “Part 9”, etc… There are countless other small differences. The following “Welcome To The Machie” is also a demo version, most likely recorded by Roger with the inorganic rhythm of the VCS3 in the background (there is a guitar that uses Gilmour’s talking modulator), and “Have A Cigar ”, “IMMERSION BOX” and “EXPERIENCE EDITION”, this is an alternative version of the live arrangement from the 1975 North American tour. The vocals are also sung by Roger and Gilmore, and it is a take that you can listen to until the end of the performance without fading out. The impact level of the take remains the same in the “ANIMALS” edition. Considering the song “Sheep”, it’s so fresh that it’s not like it’s a different take or a different edit. After all, it’s an early version of “Raving & Drooling” from the 1975 North American tour, where he sings “Raving and drooling I fell on his neck with a scream…”, and the intro is not an electric piano, but a bass like “One of These Days”. . Moreover, it is not only an initial arrangement, but also a tremendously intense version of Roger’s vocals. The next song, “Dogs,” is a version sung by Roger. Even in the early stages of “BRITISH WINTER TOUR 1974” Gilmore was singing, so this is another shocking track. The lyrics are also different, especially the last song, which is not on the official album, “Who was fitted by bridle and bit?”, “Who was given a seat in the stand?”, and “Who was forcing his way to the rain?”. There are also big differences in terms of performance and arrangement; you can hear the entire performance from the count instead of the fade-in, and the loop part of “stone…” in the interlude part was perhaps unfinished, and the song cuts off at that point and returns to the intro. . Phrases on the guitar and keyboard that are different from those on the official album can be heard throughout, and the second half of the guitar solo is also completely different. “Pigs” is the version that is closest to the final version, but it still has a different impression, with the overdubbed vocals being a different take, the sound effects of the pigs, part of the chorus, and the absence of the guitar solo that uses a talking modulator. Masu. The last track “Sheep Sound Effects” is a track that was credited as “Message From The Sheep (Field Recording)” in “ANIMALS OUTTAKES”, and here I followed the notation of the maniac who did the remastering work. I’ve explained the points in detail, but even if you don’t care about them one by one, there are masterpiece takes that will give you a completely different impression just by listening to each song. This is a piece in which many of such shocking takes have been revived with the highest quality ever, and this is a piece that enhances the original cassette to the point that it cannot be any better. Please enjoy the miraculous sound created by the delicate work and love of a maniac that resembles obsession. (74:25) Wish You Were Here 1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-8) 2.
