Description

A new masterpiece that conveys “IN THE FLESH Tour” is born. It will be released on the “GRAF ZEPPELIN” sound CD, which will be the best of the best when it first appears. This work is engraved with the “April 30, 1977 Houston performance”, a secret recording that has never been made into a CD before. It is a very thick audience recording. “IN THE FLESH Tour” is the tour that triggered the birth of “THE WALL”, and it is very popular in our shop, and there are many masterpieces. In order to organize the collection, let’s start by looking at the outline of the activities at that time and approach the position of this work. “Animals” released on January 21st. January 23rd – February 4th: Europe #1 (9 performances) ←※ DORTMUND 1977 2ND NIGHT, etc. February 17th – March 1st: Europe #2 (11 performances) ←※ PARIS 1977 3RD NIGHT, etc. March 15th – 31st: UK (9 performances) ←※ WEMBLEY 1977 1ST NIGHT, etc. April 22nd – May 12th: North America #1 (12 performances) ←★ Here ★ June 15th – July 6th: North America #2 (14 performances) ←※ ULTIMATE BOSTON 1977, etc. This is the overall picture of “IN THE FLESH Tour”. The second half of the US tour was split into two parts with about a month off in between, and the Houston performance of this work was the first half of the “North America # 1” performance. Let’s zoom in on the schedule here. Details of “North America # 1” ・ April 22-28 (4 performances) * April 30: Houston performance ← ★ This work ★ ・ May 1 + 4 (2 performances) * May 6 “CALIFORNIA STOCKYARD” ・ May 7: Anaheim performance * May 9 “ULTIMATE OAKLAND” ・ May 10 + 12 (2 performances) The highest peak of the existing 1st gene master … and so on. “North America # 1” is dominated by the super famous “ULTIMATE OAKLAND”, but this work was recorded at a concert 9 days before that. This work, which conveys such a show, is a live album that has never been released on CD until now, a secret treasure of maniacs. Although it was a hot topic among core collectors when it was unearthed in the 2000s, this recording did not penetrate to general fans. The reason for this was the quality, but this work is similar but different. Although the recording itself is the same, it is not the 2nd generation unearthed at that time, but the younger 1st generation master. The sound is extremely thick and full of direct feeling. The slightly rough feel is not something that competes with the super masterpiece “ULTIMATE OAKLAND”, but the on-the-spot and strong listening response is not lost. Perhaps the reason is the venue. The “Jepsen Stadium (now Robertson Stadium)” where the scene was was a wide open venue in the sky, and there are no walls or ceilings to reflect sound in the first place. Of course, an open venue is not necessarily simple enough to be a famous recording, and it can be either an extremely thick sound with zero reverberation, or a sparse / thin and weak sound, or it can be extreme. This work is fortunately a good example of the former. The hard numbers of “ANIMALS” are also a tough sound that shines. The highest peak updated sound by GRAF ZEPPELIN mastering Moreover, this work is an updated version in which “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has raised the peak of such secret recordings. Various elements such as strict pitch correction and correction of various noises have been polished with obsessive precision, but the biggest thing this time was the mono conversion. This recording is a mono microphone, but the 1st generation master was recorded on a stereo cassette. And due to the precision at the time of dubbing and the time of 47 years, subtle differences were created between the left and right channels. Slight differences in volume and band, sound drops, phase shift… This work restores such disturbances to their original form by mono conversion. “Sheep” is cut in, and “Eugene” is not played. The masterpiece of “North America #1” is “ULTIMATE OAKLAND”, but this work is a live album that responds to the irrepressible “more!” on top of that. Enjoy a live performance you’ve never heard before… 2CDs that permanently preserve the best part of underground records. An extremely thick audience recording of the “Houston performance on April 30, 1977”. This is a secret recording that will be released on CD for the first time, and is a masterpiece with the highest peak of 1st generation master and detailed mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. The sound is full of direct feeling with zero echo, taking advantage of the taste of the open venue. The hard numbers of “ANIMALS” are also a tough sound that shines, and it is a new masterpiece that allows you to experience a secret show. (Remastering memo) ★ Live on CD for the first time! The sound quality is about average, but the point is that it is the first time in history to be released on CD, and this is the main point. The performance is a mono AUD sound source that is neither far nor close, and the vocals are a little distant, but for an outdoor performance, instruments such as guitar and bass are in the foreground, so it can be said that the sound is “listenable” enough. There are several cuts during and between songs, and Sheep suddenly starts with a cut-in, but the material is important and no compensation is made at another performance. In short, this is a true Floydian item, and it is a sound source that can be felt rough, and although it is by no means for everyone, I think it surprisingly matches the hard songs related to Animals on this tour. Originally, it was probably a sound source that appeared in the ’00s, and the 2nd Gen was released at first. After that, the 1st Gen used in this board was distributed. This 1st Gen sound source has definitely improved sound quality without the harsh hum noise that was present in the 2nd Gen. There is hiss and sound distortion, but the hiss has been balanced with EQ processing, making it easier to hear overall. In addition, sound cuts and distortions have been repaired to the extent possible, and the difficulty of hearing has been alleviated. Since it was originally a mono sound source, it has been completely mono-converted, so the problems of left and right volume differences, band differences, phase shift, and hiss that are noticeable on one channel have been eliminated.
