Description
This work is a recording of the first day, March 6, 1972, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The first half of the concert features the full version of “The Dark Side of the Moon”. What’s interesting is the announcement made by Goro Itoi after the first half. The song was originally introduced as “A Piece for Assorted Lunatics” on stage in January, but by March, the title had already changed to “The Dark Side of the Moon”. The Japanese title “The Dark Side of the Moon” did not yet exist. It was said that lyric cards with the title “The Dark Side of the Moon – A Work for All sorts of Madmen” were distributed to the audience at the venue on the day. It was also introduced as a new song to be released in the UK in November. The release was originally scheduled for November, but was delayed by four months to March of the following year, probably due to Pink Floyd’s insistence on perfection. The first half features the full version of “The Dark Side of the Moon”, followed by an announcement and a break, and the second half features songs that have already been released. “Blow Wind, Call Storm” was a song that symbolized Pink Floyd for Japanese fans at the time, and was also featured prominently on the tour poster. The concert was closed with Eugene, Echoes, and Mystery. The second half of disc 2 contains another source that was aired on the radio at the time. It’s interesting to hear the DJ say something funny after the broadcast, “I wonder what country they’re from and what band they’re from.” This is also a trace of a more generous era. This is a complete recording of Pink Floyd’s 1972 Japan tour, held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on March 6th, the first day of the tour. The second half also contains another source that was aired on the radio at the time.
