Description

The first day of the second US tour in 1973, which took place while “Madness” was an unprecedented hit, the performance at Roosevelt Stadium on June 16th was recorded in full for the first time in a high-quality audience recording over two hours. Although the sound is a little muddy, the large-scale, fresh sound that gives a sense of the generation’s certainty is the best. The heavy bass drum and loud drums of the opening Obscured By Clouds ~ When You’re In are the best, and Gilmour’s guitar with a spacey feel is also full of mood, and Floyd’s intense ensemble that tries to overpower the audience at the large American venue with a violent sound image is a great listen. Gilmour’s excellent solo play in the 2-minute range of When You’re In is a masterpiece, and it is a performance that makes you feel the state of the large American audience that is blown away by the powerful performance. The tense Set The Controls is different from the European performances up until 1972, and the performance is more brutal, cool, and murderous, which greatly numbs the listener. The same goes for Eugene, and the screams that reverberate throughout the huge stadium may have made the general rock fans who came to see the hit “Madness” think “What a scary band.” Eugene has a cut at 6:55. There are on and off between songs, but basically there are no songs missing. Echoes on this day is a masterpiece that is highly regarded by enthusiasts as a “perfect performance,” so fans should listen. The tension continues until the end, and the performance, which is all organic and tightly controlled, gives the listener a wonderful musical satisfaction. The sound quality is also excellent. “Madness” suddenly creates a festival mood in the venue, but Floyd’s performance, which proceeds calmly in a spontaneous mood, resonates pleasantly. The vocals, guitar, percussion and all the instruments are recorded clearly, with a loud sound pressure, so it’s very powerful. The synth sound with the waveform of On The Run is intense. Time also has a solid and wonderful performance. It’s interesting to see the audience who was making such a fuss quietly listening to the piano and beautiful female vocals of The Great Gig In The Sky. (There is a momentary cut at 6:25.) Money also includes the sax from this tour, and you can listen to a funky performance full of groove. Gilmour’s 3-4 minute long solo with lots of ups and downs is shown. Us And Them starts off with a cut. (There is also an analog cut at 4:50.) The finales of Brain Damage and Eclipse are also well-defined. The sound quality of the encore is extremely poor here if it is a sound source that is circulating among traders in One Of These Days, but this is not the case with this board. The percussive, rugged, sticky groove is reproduced in a spectacular way. The voice in the middle SE “One Of These Days!…” is also recorded in a very realistic and clear way. This is a high-quality sound source that is a must-have for fans of the finest sound quality and content.
