Description

The legendary recording of PINK FLOYD’s first concept work, “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” with brass and chorus, has finally been released on CD. The incident night when they were banned from the traditional venue will be released on Best Master 2CD. Floyd’s first concept performance “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” is engraved on this work “June 26, 1969 London performance”. It is an excellent audience recording recorded at the traditional famous venue “Royal Albert Hall (hereinafter, RAH)”. 1969 was also the production period of the official “Umaguma”, and “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” is also symbolized by the sound board masterpiece “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969”. Let’s take a look at the activity overview and see what the position of this work is. {January-February: Production of “More”} ・January 10-25: Europe #1 (5 shows) ・February 12-March 27: Europe #2 (23 shows) ・April 12-July 4: Europe #3 (29 shows) ←★Here★ ・July 20-August 9: Europe #4 (7 shows) ・September 13-December 6: Europe #5 (26 shows) ←※AMSTERDAM 1969 This is PINK FLOYD in 1969. In the first place, “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” was a concept work that reconstructed the songs from “The Piper at Dawn” to “More” into a two-part series, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY”. It was not officially recorded at the time, and was only performed on the 1969 “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY Tour”. In fact, the dates of “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY Tour” vary (quite a bit) depending on the materials, and “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” was not always played in full during the period. The above is based on one of those materials, and it is only a schedule. Although the details such as the number of performances are uncertain, I think you can know the timing of the show. “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969” was “Europe # 5” in the early autumn, but the RAH performance of this work was about three months before that. It was the same “Europe # 3” as the official “Ummaguma”. Let’s focus on the schedule further. Details of “Europe #3” ・April 12-26 (3 performances) *April 27 Birmingham performance ← *Umaguma *May 2 Manchester performance ← *Umaguma ・May 3-June 24 (20 performances) *June 26: London performance ← ★This work★ ・June 28-July 4 (3 performances) 2CDs that updated the highest peak of the best master This work that conveys such a show is a truly wonderful vintage audience. It has been precisely digitized from the best existing 2nd generation master, and the treatment is very careful. Of course, it does not exceed the sound board “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969”, but the sound without any roughness is fresh, and the glossy details up to the fine parts have almost no dubbing marks. In fact, the first two songs “THE MAN” parts “Daybreak” and “Work” are not in complete form due to missing recordings, but other than that, there are no other defects that seem to be defects. If we only look at the sound, it is one of the best recordings in 1969. Moreover, this work is the highest peak update of such a best master, finished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. The master released on the Internet was quite polished, but there were some ala when closely examined. In particular, the pitch has been reborn with the precision of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, which does not allow even 1/1000th of a second of deviation. A deluxe version that also features brass and pipe organ conducted by Norman Smith The extremely rare version of “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” is depicted with such detailed sound. The biggest listening point is “The End Of The Beginning”, the last of the “THE JOURNEY” part. In terms of the song, it is “Celestial Voices” of “Mystery”, but here Rick plays the RAH pipe organ instead of the usual organ, and the brass and female choir of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra also participate. Moreover, the conductor was Norman Smith, producer of “The Piper at Dawn” and “Mystery” and also working on “Umaguma” at the time. It’s a majestic and magnificent version. Moreover, “The End Of The Beginning” on this day also had a reputation. A cannon was fired at the highlight, which damaged the seats and fabric of the RAH. In addition, Nick’s roadie nailed the stage floor to fix the drums, which became a problem, and PINK FLOYD was banned from appearing by RAH. This work captures the gun of “The End Of The Beginning” perfectly with a clear sound (by the way, their ban seems to have been lifted 8 months later). Perhaps because the soundboard “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969” is too symbolic, it is a hidden masterpiece recording that was rarely released on CD. “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has finished the best existing 2nd generation master, and you can enjoy plenty of “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” with beautiful brass and pipe organ. A new masterpiece of cultural heritage class. The first sound source on the label! It seems that there are almost no related items already released, so it is actually the first live performance! It is a valuable live sound source from the very experimental period of The Man and The Journey Tour, but this time it is not only valuable but also has a fairly good sound quality and is a mono Aud that you can “listen to” enough! Unfortunately, the first two songs are not included, but at the end of the suite, Rick Wright plays the pipe organ at the venue, and the very rare live take with the addition of the choir and brass is worth listening to (and the conductor is that Norman Smith!). In addition, the sound of the cannon at around 9:00 on The End Of The Beginning CD time is amazing! An excellent audience recording of the “Royal Albert Hall performance on June 26, 1969”. This is the best existing 2nd generation master finished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, a glossy and fresh recording. This is a cultural heritage album that allows you to enjoy the gorgeous version of “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” with brass, female choir, and pipe organ conducted by Norman Smith.
