Description

Since last year’s new discovery, Brescia in 1971 has suddenly become a battleground for sound sources. One year and eight months after that shock, a new recording “Recorder 5” has been discovered that will (significantly) update the highest peak. It is now available as the longest and best full live album! I’m sorry for the sudden buzzing of “last year’s excavation” and “already updated” based on the previously released information. Some of you may be new to this, so I’ll explain it from the beginning. “Last year’s excavation” refers to “BRESCIA 1971”. It was a superb audience recording of the “Brescia performance on June 19, 1971”. Speaking of 1971, it was the 50th anniversary of Hakone, but at that time it was also the time when the “Atom Heart Mother” tour and the “Meddle” tour intersected. First of all, let’s check the position of the show from the whole view. “ATOM HEART MOTHER World Tour” {January: Start of production of “Osekkai”} ・January 17th – February 27th: Europe #1 (10 performances) ・April 3rd – July 1st: Europe #2 (18 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 6th – 15th: Japan / Australia (5 performances) {August: Completion of “Osekkai”} ・September 18th – 30th: Europe #3 (5 performances) {October 4th – 7th: Filming in Pompeii} ・October 10th + 11th: UK (2 performances) “MEDDLE Tour” ・October 15th – 31st: North America #1a (11 performances) {October 31st: Release of “Osekkai”} ・November 2nd – 20th: North America #1b (16 performances) ・December 26th: Appearance at Beat Club [The threatening “R5” that easily surpasses the shocking “R2”] This is PINK FLOYD in 1971. The Brescia performance in this work is part of the “Atom Heart Mother” tour. It was a concert about one month before the first visit to Japan. This show has been known for recording and pre-release since the analog era, but they were derived from the so-called “Recorder 1”. The situation changed completely in February 2020. Another recording “Recorder 2” was unearthed, which has a sound quality that is incomparable to “Recorder 1”. This is “BRESCIA 1971 (hereafter, the previous work)”. You may think, “What? Recorder 5 means that three types have been added in less than two years?”, but in fact, that is correct. Until last year, it was a live performance known only to those in the know, but perhaps the impact of “Recorder 2” was too big, and it suddenly transformed into the epicenter. Let’s organize the types here.・Recorder 1: stratcat58 (3rd generation) ←※Traditional recording・Recorder 2: Geloso G570 ←※Main from the previous work・Recorder 3: Trader sound source with poor sound quality・Recorder 4: G.O. (1st generation)・Recorder 5: Renzo Storti Master ←★New sound source this time★… and so on. Please understand that three of the five types are important, and the remaining two are for completers. And the main part of this work is “Recorder 5”, which was only recently unearthed. It is a completely new sound source recorded by a person named Renzo Storti and digitized by himself. Its awesomeness extends to both the sound and the recording time. First of all, the length. The previous work was the longest ever with “R2 + R1 compensation”, but even so, the encore “Blues” was missed in its entirety. However, this time’s “Recorder 5” recorded all the songs including “Blues” without any compensation. Of course, due to the fate of tape recording, there are some (slight) cuts here and there, but this work compensates for them with the previous work. It is a full live album that breaks the longest record by about 11 minutes. This alone is shocking enough, but what’s even more shocking is the sound itself. This is really amazing. It’s too amazing. If you’ve experienced the previous work, you’ll remember the intimate sound that you wouldn’t expect from 1971, but this work is even closer. And it’s overwhelming! The previous work was super clear and vivid even in the fine details, and the strength and vividness of the core were amazing. However, it’s not that there is no hall sound at all, and when listening with headphones, the tone has a sense of space. However! The newly excavated “Recorder 5” does not feel like an audience even at the tone level. In fact, the recorder himself has announced it, and even revealed that “the equipment is Uher 4400 + Shure microphone”. It is definitely an audience recording, but even when I listen carefully with headphones, I can’t feel the sense of space, and it just seems like the best FM broadcast. In the first place, “Recorder 2” was recorded from the related area, only 2 meters from the stage. How could it get closer than that? It seems that Mr. Storti, who recorded it, is a professional sound engineer. Although it cannot be said for sure that this work was also in the related area, it is certainly a sound that can only be achieved by a “sound professional”. [The longest full live album that also allows you to enjoy the best prototype “Echoes” in history] Moreover, this work makes the most of such “Recorder 5” and finishes it into an even more seamless complete version. It is natural to adjust the pitch just right, and the left and right stereo balance, which was slightly out of sync, was also adjusted. And the parts that were missing due to tape changes, etc. were supplemented with the previous work “BRESCIA 1971”. Starting with the band introduction by the Italian DJ, first seen on “Recorder 2”, to the superb sound of the encore “Blues”, this is a full live album that spells out every part with the highest peak sound. The wonderfulness of the Brescia sponsorship, which is revived with such superb sound, is hard to put into words. “The Embryo”, where the vocal microphone has trouble in the first half, is also unique to this day, but the highlight is “The Return Of The Son Of Nothing”. The prototype “Echoes”, the biggest listening point of the first half of the 1971 tour. Who would have thought that we could experience it with such a miraculous sound…? This is the best of the year… no, once in 10 years… no, it’s the first feat in 50 years. Anyway, please experience the tremendous sound quality. It took 49 years for the previous work “BRESCIA 1971” to appear, but I never thought that a new recording that surpasses that peak would be unearthed in just one year and eight months. This is not just the “best of the day” but a super masterpiece that is indispensable to the 1970s FLOYD collection. This is a super-class audience recording of the “Brescia performance on June 19, 1971”. It is a different recording from “BRESCIA 1971 (Sigma 244)” unearthed last year, and the sound is upgraded beyond comparison. “BRESCIA 1971” was also a superb direct feeling, but this work is even more intimate. It seems to have been recorded by a professional sound engineer, and even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can’t feel the sense of space, and it sounds like the best FM broadcast. The missing tape changes and other parts were compensated for by “BRESCIA 1971”, and it has been completed as a full live album that can be enjoyed from the best early version of “Echoes” to the encore “Blues” that was not recorded until now. This is the birth of a super masterpiece that will be held once in 50 years. It is introduced as “the birth of a super masterpiece that will be held once in 50 years”, but in any case, it is the best Floyd title of the year. This is amazing. This is a shocking work that will surely sell out in a short time.
