Description
From the European tour held in June 1971, the Berlin performance on June 5th was recorded for about 2 hours with a clear, ultra-high quality audience recording that exceeds the previously released version. In addition, the recording is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds longer overall, mainly between songs. It is unfortunate that there are cuts between songs, but the crystal clear sound quality that convinces the master quality is really wonderful, and it is a must-listen title for fans that can be said to be the definitive version. After the dramatic middle part of “Fat Old Sun”, when the vocals return at the latter half of the 12th minute, the venue is enveloped in natural applause, which is moving. The powerful “Embryo” has a creative performance that is not conventional overall. “Echoes”, which was tentatively titled “Return Of The Son Of Nothing” at that time, is recorded about 1 minute longer before the start of the performance than before, and you can hear the tuning sound of the instruments and the explanation of the host that “The band is starting the show, so please sit down.” The fun applause from the audience at the 12-minute mark is different from the original image of the song, and you can hear the interesting excitement. What’s amazing is (Disc 2), which was recorded with the highest level of ultra-high quality audience recording for the ’71 tour. The hiss noise at the beginning of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” is a drawback, but the powerful performance of this period, which gets excited with the highest sound quality, is a must-listen for all fans. In particular, the nearly 20-minute “Mystery”, which begins with the MC saying “Today’s last number”, is truly the best of the best. “Cymbaline” was recorded 9 seconds before the start of the performance, which is a big advantage considering that it was cut off at the beginning of the previous release. “Astronomy Domine” and “Blues”, which feature spectacular performances, are also of the highest grade in both sound quality and content.
