Description
From the European tour accompanying “Animals” in 1977, a 4-disc set will be released with ultra-high quality and complete recordings of both performances in Munich, Germany on February 27th and 28th. First, the first performance (2/27). Master Direct’s superb sound board level of clear and stable ultra-high quality sound will delight many fans. This day can be called the first appearance in Japan, and it is recorded with a sound quality that is incomparable to the takes that existed underground in the past. The performance also gives you a unique atmosphere and weight that is typical of the 1977 European performance, and unlike the US tour that was made into an entertainment live performance, you can enjoy the tense performance that is very serious and Floyd-like. There are some parts at the beginning that make you feel the pain of the tape, and there are several cuts of the sound caused by the master at 3:50 of Sheep, the beginning of POTW2, 13:57 of Pigs, 5:39 of SOTCD, and the beginning and 7:08 of the latter half of SOYCD, so it is by no means a perfect sound source. However, as mentioned above, it was recorded with the highest sound quality among the 1977 Euro tours, and this board recorded with sound board level sound quality is definitely a must-have for fans. This sound source exists under the title “Munich 27.2.77”, which is said to be the best sound quality among top collectors, but this is not actually a master direct. This board uses the exact same master, but a significant part of the right channel was damaged at the master stage, and “Munich 27.2.77” copied the left channel as it is and pasted it to the right to make it mono, while this board was created by leaving as much stereo part as possible, and compared to “Munich 27.2.77”, the sound spread is completely different. (Only the damaged part on the right side is in L-channel mono.) Moreover, in “Munich 27.2.77”, all the above cut parts are faded in and out (or packed), but this version is recorded in the master state as it is. Real enthusiasts should prefer the state as it is. In this way, it can be said that this version makes you feel the superiority of master quality everywhere in both sound quality and content. The second day performance (2/28) is also a really wonderful recording. This sound source has already been released under the title “Pigs On The Run”, but this board is recorded with excellent sound quality as well as the previous one, and the pitch has been recorded accurately for the first time. Compared to the first day recording, there is a slight feeling of the hall’s air, but it is still a well-known fact that it is a famous recording that represents the 1977 tour. However, as with the previous release, a major drawback is that the part that is difficult to listen to appears due to the deterioration of the tape on the master cassette at 2:30-3:15 of Dogs. However, other than that, it is a really great recording with almost no flaws, and you can enjoy this wonderful live performance to the fullest. If you ignore the issue with Dogs, the second day is the best in terms of overall power and stability, and the first day is the best in terms of sound quality, even though there are a few cuts. This is a 4-disc set that boasts a wealth of content as a live CD and is a must-have for fans.
