Description

The “New Transfer Version” from the June 4, 1971 performance in Dusseldorf, Germany, has just recently appeared. It is a high-quality upper sound source that is clearly clearer and rawer than the already released “Deep In Space”, has less hiss, is fresher, and is closer to the original sound. The person who uploaded the sound source explained, “When I went to Prague in November, I stopped by the home of Mr. & Mrs. (Herr und Frau) Peter D, who was involved in the “Pictures Of Pink Floyd” record reprint project. There, I came across an unexpected and surprising item. When I checked his record collection, I found a BASF reel tape with “PINK FLOYD DUESSELDORF” written on the label. When I asked him, “What is this?” he replied, “Oh, I completely forgot about this tape. Do you still have a reel player?” “Yes, I do.” “Well, take it.” Just reading the literal translation is exciting, but the content is also amazing. Although there are some signs of tape deterioration, the freshness of the sound is overwhelming, and in fact, the sound is so good that the deterioration points stand out more than ever before, which is amazing. The Embryo is a 9-minute recording, and the 3-minute missing part of the song “Deep In Space” is filled in with another sound source on the same day, and the last song “Saucerful Of Secrets” is originally 3 minutes long, and the following 6 minutes of “Deep In Space” are filled in with another sound source on the same day. This time, the newly discovered reel is planned to be listened to as it is, so the missing parts were not filled in. The sound is good, so the German audience gets more excited than necessary, and there are some parts where the deterioration and hiss are noticeable, but the freshness and clarity of the sound are overwhelming, and it is definitely a must-have and must-listen for fans. (Early Echoes (The Return Of The Son Of Nothing) is a must-listen, as you can hear the audience getting so excited between songs, but then suddenly falling silent and listening intently. I don’t know why the German audience was so excited about Cymbaline, as if they were saying “We’ve been waiting for this!” lol.) For fans who know the old Düsseldorf recordings, this title will make you feel like you’ve never heard such good sound before. This is an amazing album.
