Description

PINK FLOYD in 1969, who paved the way to progressive rock while repeating numerous incidents. A famous recording that conveys the scene has been decided to be released. This work is recorded in “Plumpton performance on August 8, 1969”. It is an audience recording of the performance at the legendary festival “9th National Jazz & Blues Festival”. Speaking of 1969, masterpieces such as the great masterpiece “Umaguma” and the masterpiece “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY” are left behind. What is the position of this work in such a situation? First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activity outline at that time. {January-February: Production of “More”} January 10th-February 1st: UK #1 (7 performances) February 12th-March 27th: Europe #1 (22 performances) April 14th-July 4th: Europe #2 (35 performances) *Ummaguma and others July 20th-November 7th: Europe #3 (36 performances) ★Here★ {November 7th: Release of “Ummaguma”} November 26th-December 6th: UK #2 (5 performances) This is the outline of their activities in 1969. Both the studio and live performances of “Ummaguma” were during the “Europe #2” period, but the Plumpton performance of this work was about three months later. It was the sixth performance of “Europe #3” and about one month before “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY”. This day has long been famous for the great recordings that have been made, and the definitive version that reigns supreme is the definitive version “PLUMPTON 1969”. In fact, this work is also a related work of that great masterpiece, and it was only because this work was born that this masterpiece was realized. In order to explain the meaning, let’s start with basic knowledge of Plumpton recording. Two types of recordings have been found for this day, “Recorder 1” and “Recorder 2”. Let’s briefly summarize the characteristics of each. ●Recorder 1-Uncut recording, best in terms of sound quality-However, tape deterioration begins to become noticeable from the middle of the show, so it is not perfect ●Recorder 2-Recorded by the famous taper of the past: Nick Ralph-The sound quality is good, but it is a bit loud and there is hiss in quiet scenes-There are cuts between songs… and so on. The masterpiece “PLUMPTON 1969” was a vertex live album produced by making full use of the upgrade masters of both “Recorder 1” and “Recorder 2”. So what is this work? It is an upgraded master of “Recorder 2”, which became the material for the masterpiece. The contents were announced by the famous collector Neonknight, and are a combination of three types of tapes. All three tapes are “Recorder 2”, but the condition differed depending on the lineage and branches. By combining the best parts of each, “the longest existing Recorder 2” was realized. Please refer to the track list below to see which part is which tape, but the upgrade is eye-catching. It does not surpass the traditional “Recorder 1”, but “Recorder 2”, which was only thought of as a supplement until then, can now be fully enjoyed as a long live album. The “Shamil’s CDR” part of the first four songs is particularly delicious. In the masterpiece “PLUMPTON 1969”, you can enjoy the parts that “Recorder 1” was responsible for with a separate recording. For example, in “Sun Hymn”, the low center of gravity sounds such as the sound of the gong strummed by Roger and Nick’s tom rolling have been improved from the beginning. Compared to the conventional Recorder 2, the metallic sound, low-frequency explosion, and tape hiss have been greatly reduced, making the sound of the entire ensemble much easier to hear. The bass in the middle, which previously had too strong an attack, is now brighter, and the expressions of each instrument behind the bass can be clearly heard. The hiss noise in the “Cymba Line” has also been reduced by an order of magnitude, making Gilmour’s singing voice, guitar, and the harmony with Roger colorful. The thickness and depth of mono have been greatly increased. The highest peak live album “PLUMPTON 1969” that conveys the legendary festival. This is the best version of “Recorder 2”, which contributed greatly to its creation. It is a live album born from core collectors bringing together materials, and it is also a musical work that goes beyond the realm of conventional supplementary material. A famous recording that conveys the legendary festival has been released. It is an upgraded version that combines the best parts from three different “Recorder 2” tapes, and elevates “Recorder 2”, which was previously only a supplementary material, to a musical work. 9th National Jazz & Blues Festival, Plumpton Racecourse, Plumpton, Sussex, UK 8th August 1969 UPGRADE (70:43) Shamil’s CD 1.
