Description

“THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” was the first step that PINK FLOYD took on the road to becoming a concept king. A legendary recording that allows you to experience that precious scene has arrived. It will be released as the longest and highest peak updated sound CD by the best master. The historical background of the first concept work “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” This work is engraved with the “June 1969 Manchester performance”. It is the legendary audience recording. “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is FLOYD’s first concept work, but no official studio album was produced, only a concert performance. On the other hand, not all of the 1969 live performances were “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” performances, and they are mixed with regular style live performances. In order to know the situation around that, let’s first look back on the overview of the activities at that time. {January-February “More” Production} ・January 10-25: Europe #1 (5 performances) ・February 12-March 27: Europe #2 (23 performances) ・April 12-July 4: Europe #3 (29 performances) ←★Here★ ・July 20-August 9: Europe #4 (7 performances) ←※PLUMPTON 1969 ・September 13-December 6: Europe #5 (26 performances) ←※AMSTERDAM 1969 This is PINK FLOYD in 1969. The soundboard album “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969”, which is also a symbol of “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY”, was the final “Europe #5”, but this work was “Europe #3” about three months ago. “PLUMPTON 1969” in between is a regular style performance, and you can understand that it cannot be separated by time alone. The situation is the same within “Europe #3”. Let’s focus on the dates further here. Details of “Europe #3” ・April 12-26 (3 performances) *April 27 Birmingham performance ← *Ummaguma * May 2 Manchester performance ← *Ummaguma ・May 3-June 21 (18 performances) *June 22: Manchester performance ← ★This work★ ・June 24: Oxford performance *June 26 “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1969” ・June 28-July 4 (3 performances) … and so on. The Manchester performance (a different venue from this work) that was the basis of “Ummaguma” was in the usual style, while this work and the “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1969 (Sigma 329)” two times later were “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” performances. This is one of the few best records of the legendary recording of the precious performance, “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY”. The recording itself was released in the Ayanami era, but this work is an upgraded version of a different class. The previous master showed some degradation of the bandwidth as if it had gone through MD, but this work was created from the best existing 1st Gene Master, and is overwhelmingly natural and beautiful. There is no sense of sparseness at all, and it is dense like an FM broadcast. It is sometimes highly rated as “EX-” on the list of core collectors, but that is not surprising at all because it is a direct sound. In fact, there are also pause cuts in this recording (perhaps to save tape). It is not a complete recording of the full show. Therefore, it is certain that it has remained at the “know-only” level for many years. However, the pleasure of being at the scene of “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” with such a sound is irreplaceable. This is a cultural heritage album that has been revived with the best existing 1st Gen sound. A legendary audience recording of the “June 1969 Manchester performance”. This is the highest peak album created from the best existing 1st Gen master, and is an upgrade of a different class from the conventional master, which also had severe bandwidth degradation. The natural and dense core is as wonderful as FM broadcasting, and it is understandable why it is highly rated “EX-” on the list of core collectors. Although there are some cuts due to poor translation of the tape, this is a cultural heritage album that allows you to be present at the scene of the precious first concept work “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY”. Remastering memo The precious ’69 sound source is probably the first CD in history! In the past, it was recorded as a coupling with Royal Festival Hall on the Ayanami board “The Man And The Journey”, but this time it is remastered from the 1st Gen, which is currently the best! There was a band down in the range above 14kHz, as with MD, but this version has a dense sound without such a band down. There are a lot of cuts in general, but the sound is generally close enough, and there are quite a few loud parts where the bass sounds are saturated, but in some places there are parts with a raw texture that makes you feel like you’re listening to a mono FM broadcast, and you can enjoy the sound that is rated EX- on the list among collectors.
