Description
PINK FLOYD in 1969, who transformed from a psychedelic newcomer to a progressive rock flag bearer while repeating various experiments. This is a superb live album that allows you to experience such a season of evolution. Two legendary audience recordings are permanently preserved in this work. This is a single album that mainly features the “Port Talbot performance on December 6, 1969” and the “Essen performance on October 11, 1969” as a bonus. Speaking of the 1969 live performance, it was also recorded in the traditional work “Umaguma”, and there was also a performance of the first concept work “THE MAN & THE JOURNEY”. In that context, what position will the two performances of this work be in? Let’s take a look at the activity schedule at that time. {January-February “More” Production} ・January 10-25: Europe #1 (5 performances) ・February 12-March 27: Europe #2 (23 performances) ・April 12-July 4: Europe #3 (29 performances) ←※Ummaguma and others ・July 20-August 9: Europe #4 (7 performances) ←※PLUMPTON 1969 ・September 13-December 6: Europe #5 (26 performances) ←★Here★ This is PINK FLOYD in 1969. The live disc of “Ummaguma” and “MANCHESTER 1969”, which will be released at the same time this week, were born from “Europe #3”, but the two performances of this work were recorded in the much later “Europe #5”. Let’s focus on the schedule further. Details of “Europe #5” ・September 13: Rugby performance * September 17 “LIVE IN AMSTERDAM 1969” ・September 19-October 10 (11 performances) * October 11: Essen performance ←★ Bonus of this work ★ ・October 18 + 24 (2 performances) * October 25 “AMOUGIES POP & JAZZ FESTIVAL 1969” ・November 1-30 (7 performances) * December 6: Port Talbot performance ←★ Main of this work ★ Main: The longest and highest peak update version of the last day of 1969 The main part of this work is the Port Talbot performance, which was also the last stage of 1969. It was an appearance at the music festival “AFAN FESTIVAL OF PROGRESSIVE MUSIC”. This recording has been known for some time, but this work updates the longest and highest peak quality by making full use of two types of masters. The main part is the “1st Gene Master”. It was digitized by a person named Lord Snooty and released by the famous collector Neonknight. This work is the highest peak version of such a best master, further polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. In fact, the sound is superb. The core is extremely thick and there is no sense of distance, and if the sound is beautiful, the details are clear. It is powerful like an FM sound board, and the pitch that was random and shifted in the original sound on the net is stable. This alone is more than enough to update the highest peak, but this work also updates the longest. Not only the above “1st Gene” but also the already released group was only known for three songs, but the “2nd Gene Master”, which is a different system of the same recording, also recorded “Sun Hymn”. In this work, such a first appearance “Sun Hymn” is additionally recorded. It is a significantly expanded version of about 38 minutes. Of course, this “Sun Hymn” part was also connected after applying meticulous mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. Although it is slightly muffled compared to the main “1st Gene”, you can enjoy the precious 1969 scene with a stable noiseless sound from start to finish. Bonus: The longest master of the Essen performance different from the official one Although it is the longest and highest peak update, the Port Talbot recording of about 38 minutes is a little unsatisfying. Therefore, in this work, another valuable recording is also permanently preserved with the highest peak update quality. That is the “Essen performance on October 11th”. It is a live performance known for the fact that two professional shots (about 20 minutes) were recorded in the official box “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972”, but this work is completely different. It is an audience recording of four songs (about 26 minutes). This recording has also been known for a long time, but this work is a different best master from the already released group. Neonknight digitized the young gene cassette of the Marbal collection, and like the main Port Talbot recording, it is a perfect specification finished with “GRAF ZEPPELIN” meticulous mastering. The opening part and “Starry Sky Drive”, which were not included in the previous master, are also included (this recording did not include the “Mystery” that was in the pro shot), but the overall sound quality is the best ever. The master freshness has improved significantly, and it is not distorted by noise reduction as in the past. If you have the official “THE EARLY YEARS”, please compare it with the monochrome pro shot sound. Although the nuances of the sound are different, you will understand that they are not defeated. The following year, 1970, PINK FLOYD embarked on the production of “Atom Heart Mother” and became a leading figure in the progressive scene. What is imprinted in this work is the appearance just before that. It is a valuable record of the audience in “1969”, when rock was about to evolve. Legendary audience recording of “Port Talbot performance on December 6, 1969 / Essen performance on October 11”. Both are the highest peak updated version woken up from the best existing masters released by Neonknight. The Port Talbot recording is complemented by another master with “Sun Hymn”, and the Essen recording also features the first appearance of the previously unavailable “Starry Sky Drive”. This is a cultural heritage album that has been significantly upgraded in both length and sound. Remastering Memo ★ Most of it is now on CD! A great coupling album of ’69 festival sound sources! The main recording is the familiar sound source from the festival on December 6th, but this time it is the longest album ever, including the first appearance of the Sun Hymn, using multiple sound sources! The main sound source used is a 1st Gen mono audience recording, which was transferred by a person named Lord Snooty and edited by Neonknight, and this time it has been further remastered to the latest version. The pitch has been variably corrected and some EQ adjustments have been made. The part of the Sun Hymn, which will be the first to appear, is remastered from material that is said to be the 2nd Gen, including the inter-song part before the performance. This one has also been pitch and EQ adjusted, and the continuous tape popping noise that was periodically mixed in has been removed and filled in, making it the longest recording ever! Only the Sun Hymn has a slight increase in hiss, but you can enjoy the stable, high-quality Aud mono sound from start to finish. Although it is about 38 minutes long, the sound is clear, close, and easy to listen to, making it the longest ever recording! Bonus recording of the Essen performance on October 11th! This is originally famous for the professional shot footage of two songs by Eugene and Mystery, and has been included in the EARLY YEARS BOX in recent years, but this time it is not that, but rather a good mono audience recording from the day that exists! This is a little over 25 minutes long, so it is treated as a bonus, but in terms of sound quality, it is also an extremely good sound source. In fact, this mono Aud sound source was not the first to appear, but rather the three songs Astronomy Domine, Green, and Eugene were modestly included on “Reversion Or Revalorization” (WPOCM), released in the early ’90s, at the dawn of CD items. This label, World Product Of Compact Music (abbreviated as WPOCM), was a so-called B-class label, but when it comes to Floyd, they released some interesting items at the time. I am also impressed that they took notice of this live performance and made it into a CD, even if it was just a part of it, but I don’t think that WPOCM itself thought that deeply about recording it, and there are probably very few fans who know about it in the first place. There were only three songs recorded there, and they were recorded with full noise reduction processing, reflecting the era when they were extremely negative about hiss noise. This edition is a remaster of the version transferred by Neonknight from the Low Gen cassette of the Marbal collection, which has become quite familiar! It has a clear and very fresh sound, and the pitch and bass have been corrected, making it very easy to listen to despite the short recording. With this, “Reversion Or Revalorization”, which had been hanging on by a thread for many years, is finally out of use!
